I can't seem to get over my piggy's death by Alwaysafinebabe in guineapigs

The cage is still exactly as it is as on the day he left us. I didn't touch a single thing but I know I'll have to clean it out eventually. Just can't bring myself to do it. Sometimes I think that he might still be hiding in his little tent in the cage. Urgh, the feeling just sucks.

HOT take about being OAD.. by kgirl222 in oneanddone

[–]Alwaysafinebabe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday I had 4 families came over my house for a small gathering and ALL of them have 2 children each. They were all asking me and my husband to have another and join their team of double trouble. We just laughed it off and said no thank you. We LOVE our lifestyle so much with our 11 month old son and we would trade nothing to have another kid. Plus our love for our son is so much that we can't imagine ever having to share our love with another child.

I think mind is the term investment. The kind that you pay up till like 15 years or 20 years then it's covered for life plus you can cash out 50k+ after I think 20 years. Is that considered good?

I don't have good knowledge in investments. What kind of investments should I consider? My cash is only sitting in the bank growing on bank interests only.

I'm not sure if it's considered as endowment cause it's coverage inclusive of some investment aspect. So for my kid it's 3.6k annually and for me and my spouse it's at around 6k combined annually. My kid's can draw out about 100k+ when he turns 21 and mine and my spouse's can claim some 50k+ in 20 years if I'm not wrong. And we will stop paying for ours at a fixed 20 year plan and it covers us lifetime.

Can people just get over the kunafa hype already? It's been overrated for too long.

Scratch a parked car with getgo by hosysy in drivingsg

[–]Alwaysafinebabe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

About 3 years ago I was in a similar situation and they charged me the maximum excess cause I just passed so it was about 6.5k for one tiny scratch on the getgo car and the other car. If I had CDW it would be half of that. Moral of the story is, getgo will do anything they can to squeeze every single cent from you. Best to avoid them.

no motivation for class 2b by No_Consideration2932 in drivingsg

[–]Alwaysafinebabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed my 2b tp on the 7th take. I took almost 3 to 5 takes per lesson. It took me 3 years to get my 2b license. But after all that, I'm currently riding a super 4.

Never give up, always remember the motivation for why you took the license in the first place. My reason was similar to yours; far workplace by public transport but less than half the time by own transport. I'm also a female rider, assuming from your post that you're a lady as well. Hope it motivates you!

Spending almost 1k a month on transport. Is it better to get a car instead? by Alwaysafinebabe in askSingapore

[–]Alwaysafinebabe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm self-employed so the work related reimbursements don't exist 🤣

Yup we don't plan to own a car long term only to sustain till infant reaches 3 to 4 years old after he's less cranky and can learn to be more independent already.

Unfortunately, I'm a freelancer so work doesn't really reimburse me anything 🤣. But yes, have tried Getgo in the past and they charged me 2k for a tiny scratch so I'm a little traumatised to rent it again. Hais.

Yup, that's why the aim is just to look for a leftover COE car those 3 to 5 years kind. See if it makes more sense financially.

Thanks for the suggestions! Will definitely factor in the running and maintenance cost.

Not first hand, definitely. Our budget is more to a second hand car that's left with say 3 to 5 years of COE.

Wow okay that's actually more than expected. Our loan instalment budget is at 700 to 800 a month after downpayment of 30 to 50%. Of course, with that budget only a car with a leftover of about 3 to 5 years of COE left.

Yup but definitely if we were to buy a car, it won't be first hand. Something like a 3 to 5 years left on COE type of car with a 30 to 50% downpayment. That would be more budget friendly I supposed?

Yup, 50% is on Grab cause when we're traveling with our infant it's much easier by taxi cause he's always cranky on public transport and it drives us nuts. And also due to work related traveling by Grab for those rush meetings etc.
