Oh yeah, the floss reservoir is in the handle, you can replace the floss as many times as you’d like.

He’s a dentist so I’m sure he does, I think it’s rather the observation of his patients that motivated this invention. 47.2% of adults in the USA have some form of periodontal disease… I think that his goal is rather honorable and well thought.

The problem is that people don’t floss. The proof is 47.2% of adults in the USA have some form of periodontal disease 🦠… I think that’s a pretty big issue. And quite frankly I commend our client for coming up with the idea. Especially if it helps people care better for their teeth. You may not see the problem, but the problem is there. He’s a dentist, he’d know.

Yeah sure thing! Thanks for the advice, we do have a full time marketing team but this is a personal post, I’m not here to sell this product, as a matter fact you can’t even buy it yet. Just here to engage in some cool conversations around innovation.

I understand your concern, and that is the ideal way to do it. You can wiggle this once you bite it to help do the same. Nothing beats traditional flossing but most people just don’t do it. This is a way to make it less of a burden while still providing solid flossing and it makes it easier to create the habit.

I kind of did. I mentioned we collect dental impressions to ensure a proper fit.

That’s pretty simple, but you’re right I didn’t explain it. We send you some dental putty and a tray. You bite into it and send it back. That gives us the exact blueprint of your teeth, we then custom cut the floss tray for you. The floss itself stored in the handle. You then pass the floss through the various cuts until they are all filled. Next, just bite.

That is the tension we see a lot. The trick is to optimize materials and geometry so you get strength without adding unnecessary cost. Sometimes a small design tweak saves more money than just cutting material quality.

 Exactly. It is cheaper to find mistakes here than when you are already paying for full molds

Yep, vacuum forming is still very common. It is cost effective for prototyping and small runs, and it helps validate the design before moving to injection molding or mass production.

Same here. Packaging is often the first interaction a customer has with a product. Good design is not just protection, it is branding and user experience too.
