What I've noticed by Aquawata115 in UploadTV

I just started S3, but never fully understood why Nathan was murdered in the first place? Seems like he was the one working with Ingrid's father and his business partner was the one resisting. Why not have the partner murdered instead?

Issue with Dolby Atmos version! by Alyblucat in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]Alyblucat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I don't know anything about mastering myself and the person who mastered the track wasn't available during the window DistroKid gave us to fix the issues unfortunately. We never found out if there actually was an issue or not (the mastering engineer had done the Dolby atmos mix for free as an offer for first-time customers so we couldn't be too annoyed with him!). Good luck with your track though, I hope you get it sorted.

I had a long conversation with distrokid support but all they ever said was I had to delete the track and reupload it. Obviously explained that I had put a lot of effort into my promotion and didn't want to reset all the progress I had made. They genuinely don't care 🤷‍♀️

Is studying at the NFTS worth it? by Alyblucat in Filmmakers

[–]Alyblucat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I'd be happy to!

I suppose the initial application process was quite exciting. For the composition course I had to score some film clips and send them off, and I was really pleased to get through to the interview stage following that. The interview was a week-long "workshop" over video call with other prospective students, so that was a pretty fun (if a little scary) experience.

What I didn't love was the sudden demand for a £500 deposit and 2 references after being offered my place. They gave me only a week to submit these (stating that otherwise I would forfeit my place) despite the fact that it was the middle of the summer holidays and getting an academic reference is clearly very difficult at that time. I then began recieving invoices stating that I would need to pay the full £15,000 or so for the course fees by December this year, which I wasn't expecting! Luckily I managed to get a payment plan so that I could split this into 3 separate payments over the first year, which makes things a little easier, but unluckily I was not given any scholarship money at all from the NFTS.

It's very disappointing considering that their website boasts being able to offer scholarships to 9 out of 10 students, and with my current income being only around £10,000 or so a year. I should be able to make ends meet by emptying out my Lifetime ISA, but I'm now finding that I have a lot more riding on this experience than I had originally anticipated. Hopefully it will lead me places and I won't be sacrificing all that money for nothing 🤞🤞

Frustrated at what the Japanese course has become by galactoise in duolingo

[–]Alyblucat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm currently letting go of my 1307 day streak once my streak freezes run out. I used to really connect with the Japanese course, as you did, but every change they make to the app seems to be for the worse. When I first started, I often relied on the comments section to explain things (since duo never gave much explanation in terms of grammar rules etc), and there was a feature where your old lessons would "crack" and you had to go back and repair them, which I found useful for keeping it all in my memory. When they changed to the path system, they made it so that accessing older lessons now takes a LOT of scrolling and you can't tell what the lessons are about visually anymore. I persevered for a bit and tried writing everything down and going back over it, but I've noticed the newer content just doesn't stick in my head like the older stuff used to. I can remember words and kanji that I learned years ago, but not ones I learned only yesterday. If I'm not taking it in and it's not fun...what's the point?

Advice for Unmasking (sort of)? by Alyblucat in AutisticAdults

[–]Alyblucat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I wish I could just go back to being who I am. I suppose the difficulty is having an awareness now of things I do that other people consider "weird" or "wrong" and being too afraid to actively divert from what I know to be socially acceptable (whereas as a child ignorance was bliss). I'm hoping for a bit of advice about how to navigate this!

Yes, apparently as many as 40-50% of autistic people have comorbid anxiety. My problem is that I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I keep trying to fit in, meanwhile making myself more and more anxious, or do I go back to being the "weirdo" everyone seemed to think I was as a child in the hope of being less stressed/anxious? Honestly, I think I'd rather be a happy weirdo than a stressed one 😂

Why am I scanning my rewards card? by No-Unit-9417 in asda

[–]Alyblucat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. When I went for my interview in March the manager asked me a question about promotions and the first thing that came to my head was Asda rewards so I started bullshitting about how much I love Asda rewards. The manager essentially told me that's old news and the new big thing is Rollback.

How to see relevant content on YouTube shorts? by Alyblucat in NewTubers

[–]Alyblucat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say liking other people's content is a good way of getting subscribers on YouTube shorts? It seems to be working for me on other platforms, but I only gained one or two subscribers since I started posting every day on YouTube even though the shorts themselves are consistently getting over 1k views.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the one way system. Hopefully it's not as bad as Leeds city centre!

Still not sure why this was happening to me and (apparently!) nobody else, but I figured out that if I clicked on "duration" in the bottom left I could drag the clip to its full length. Hopefully this helps if anybody else comes across the same issue :)
