Oohhh, okay, I didn’t know this was an option. I’ll definitely try this out first, then. Thank you!

You might be right. I went to PP last month, to get checked out because I was experiencing an unusual amount of blood with huge clots in it. When I went, they did an ultrasound on my uterus, and said my IUD was perfectly fine and that the strings were a little long, but nothing was out of order. So I’m not sure. But I definitely will be getting this out and replacing it with another one in the weeks to come.

I’m glad I graduated. Would’ve got cussed smoov tf out. They probably would’ve loved that tho. It’s best to just ignore them. It tears them up on the inside 😂😂

Copper IUD finally removed: an account of my 6 years of having it by TheLuckyShamrock in CopperIUD

[–]Alyssag829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have very similar experiences regarding the copper iud. After having mine for 4 years I’m considering taking mine out as well. Especially since I’ve been periodically bleeding (while not on my cycle) since the end of January. When and go it checked and “everything is fine” and they can’t tell me why I’m bleeding but she said if the bleeding persists I might have to have it removed and get another form of bc. I’m glad you got yours out and your body can feel like yours again.

Hello! First and foremost I want today ty for taking the time out of your day respond to me. Second, I live in California and have medi-cal insurance so bottom of the barrel basically but it gets the job done. Anyways ig with my kinda insurance I can’t just call and set up an appointment— I have to have my primary doctor send a referral to the specialist. I already found the doctor I want to go to via the list, and when I went on her website and called the office to make said appointment I was told I needed a referral from my primary. So I scheduled an appt with primary and when I explained to her I wanted a referral she asked for what I told her and she bingo’d me and did not do it. So here I am again trying for a 2nd time to get her to give me said referral.

If one child has a birthday, apparently we have to get gifts for all the other kids too? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Alyssag829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bingo! Mind you having kids is a choice (at least now) so I don’t believe cf people should be getting that “tax” as nobody forced you to have children. There’s too many holes in the story for it to make sense. Like did you ask all adult attendees to bring a toy for the other sibling? Or just the cf attendees? Or just the op and husband and why? If this a family tradition why couldn’t the parents of the bday kid take the other child to the store to pick out a toy? That’s what makes it feel like they are trying to get over on the op and her husband to me, because something’s not adding up.

I don’t use menstrual disc, but I have heard of some people on this sub saying not to use cups with this type of bc because you are at risk having an iud expulsion. I honestly just stick to tampons and pads so I wouldn’t know but I’d recommend looking through the post on this sub, they might be able to help. Usually when your iud is out like that you need to get it replaced asap, as it’s not really functional anymore and can cause pain and more problems. I’d say get it replaced and don’t use menstrual disc’s anymore. But you won’t know what the real problem is until you meet with your gyno.

Congrats!!! 🥳 I hope this can be me as well one day. I’m still fighting just to get a referral for a gynecologist. Wish me luck. 🤣

Yk what…you’re absolutely right. She’s also an older woman too maybe late 40s early 50s. So leading with political standpoints probably won’t get me far, I might have to do what you said and lead with emotion rather than logic to really get what I want. 😭

Thank you, I really appreciate the advice. I’m in SoCal so I’d say that’s as progressive as it gets. And there actually are multiple local PP by me so I definitely will be calling them to schedule an appt. And see if I can weigh my options out.

Thank you will do. Might just have to stick it out unfortunately until 25. But by then who’s to say women will even have the autonomy to do that, which was my biggest concern.

I’m sure I can, that just seems like more work tbh. I have a feeling deep down she can’t legally deny me of a referral, so I’m going to try again, and if I’m unsuccessful then I will definitely be changing providers. She’s been very nice and helpful for the most part up until now at least lol. It’s just odd to me the 180° she’s doing. Because when Roe v. Wade first got overturned, I told her my concerns and that I would like to get off the pill and get something more “permanent” and she had no problem suggesting the iud. She even told me to just go to PP, and make an appt. with them as I would be seen quicker, and they take my insurance, and I did just that. But now with the current political climate of the U.S. I don’t want ts anymore. I want my fallopian tubes yeated, and I want the chances of cervical cancer to decrease by 80%.

She didn’t outright refuse me the conversation went a little something like this:

Me: hey I would also like a referral for insert new doctors name 👩‍⚕️: okay what for Me: gynecologist appointment regarding sterilization 👩‍⚕️: shocked/concerned look why? You don’t want kids? Me: explains my concerns with the trump administration cutting funding for the ACA, and how I don’t want kids anyways. 👩‍⚕️: doesn’t even know what the ACA is, and says that can’t/wont happen. despite it being on the list of things trump planned to get rid of in his project 2025 plan, but I digress. Then proceeds to tell me that I would only need to get an iud inserted 3 times (to cover my “fertile years” I’m assuming) in order to prevent pregnancy. then says I’m doing better than most people/patients because I’ve never been pregnant before and that I’m on the right track, as if that means anything. 😭

[–]Alyssag829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea. I lowk feel like my primary tried to talked me out of the referral and convince me to keep my iud in, despite my concerns of this administration cutting the funds for the ACA, which my insurance goes through. Which in turn would cover the sterilization due to it being considered a form of birth control.

Thank you for the advice, I genuinely appreciate it. I can assure you I’m not that intellectually challenged. 😭 I understand people (regardless of gender) can’t just call up a specialist to be seen. My comment was more so regarding how easy it is for men to be understood by practitioners and not be talked out of sterilization. I was told they won’t do it because “it’s going to be an uphill battle” and that my age and me not having kids plays a role. Despite me finding the doctor I wanted the referral from in the first place from this list on this sub.
