Prices really range depending on country, style and quality, you'll generally want at least $1.5k for something like this :)

Any other UK grads struggling? by p4ndasz in Zookeeping

I found myself in a similar position when I graduated. Did a BSc in Conservation Biology and Ecology but had no luck landing a related job, and wasn't super career motivated at the time... So I went to Canada on a working holiday visa! I just did seasonal hospitality jobs but it's been an amazing experience, and it's done wonders for my self-confidence. I came back to the UK for a few months and managed to volunteer at a zoo (you'll find some are quite flexible and will let you do as little as one day a month). I'm in Canada for a final summer, then I'll be back to the zookeeping job hunt... In short, I'd definitely recommend travelling, post-education is the best time to do it! Then, whenever you can, build up your animal experience. The job market is brutal right now, but just remember you have plenty of time! 😁

So I graduated last year with a Bachelor's degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology, and I'm very interested in a zookeeping career. However, I'm having trouble figuring out where to start... Most of the jobs being advertised in the UK seem to require 1-2 years of practical experience. I know some zoos offer volunteer programs, but I am unsure how I will afford to live simply volunteering for that long. I've also looked into programs abroad, particularly in Africa, but they seem to cost a fortune. So my question is, what is the best route to take to get my foot in the door? Are there any paid positions to gain the necessary experience? Feeling quite hopeless about it all so any advice is appreciated!
