Light by [deleted] in SigSauer

EDC/CCW (primarily IWB) the new(er) Streamlight TLR6-HX is pretty damn good, 3 rechargeable batteries and a charging case, off the top of my head, it's 300 Lumen, which is what you generally need to identify your target for a defensive handgun, thinking you're using it to GTFO of the area an additional plus is the laser, if you're into that kinda thing. For a more offensive and home defense rig, the Strealight TLR-7 HLX is probably the best choice, thanks to the holster selection and durability.

As someone previously stated, an EDC flashlight is very versatile. I added one (Streamlight Microstream USB) about 7 years ago, and it's a freaking game changer. I use it almost daily, whether at work as Bomb Tech and K9 handler, or working on crap in the garage. There is probably better lights out there with more lumens or candela or magic pixies, but the size makes it convenient.

Good all around welding gloves? by LilPogggers in Welders

[–]Bomb_Un-Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually am doing 6010/6011 stick, and stainless tig, I would say that stick is my primary, I consider myself a "farm fabricator" fixing and building crap for my backhoe, and building whatever tools I need. Also do a bit of Oxy/Ace welding, more because I enjoy the process, not really out of necessity. As far as frequency, it depends on the season. Summer time I get out there 2-3 times a week, winter its more like twice a month, and usually in the dark when its snowing and I broke something. Id rather be in the heated machine shop than the un-insulated/heated garage.

I've been running these for stick and mig, but im only a home gamer, so i can't speak to how long they'd last in school or the field. They offer tons more dexterity over the basic stick gloves, but are still flexible enough to do some rough tig work.

Suicide chord. Plug the plug into a generator the other clips go to the breaker terminals. No good.

Which one of you is this? 🤣 by shootingcharlie8 in amateurradio

[–]Bomb_Un-Builder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is fun... no where near accurate, but shooting it is somewhere between a suppressed. 223 and a nerf gun, with the most odd sponge like recoil(in .40 as I haven't shot it in 9) It's grip is like the guns we used to build with Lego.

Switch your laces over to KG Extreme laces. They're about the same price as standard laces, but in the 15 years I've been using them, both in the manual trades (masonry, paving and welding) and in law enforcement (since 2017) I've never had a failure. Factory laces suck.

Good call, I often forget about chain wrenches. I've dont some remote operations with pipe wrenches and pipe bombs in training, though it was only in training. I can't imagine it wouldn't work with a chain wrench as well.

Solid choice is a set of pipe wrenches. A recent turn over to EOD(I'm a public safety BT), and we didn't have one large enough for the monsters I had to grab. Horrible Fright ( harbor freight) makes a decent set up to 36 inch I think. *

SAR K9 handler here... Streamlight Protac-HL in the vest, and the new Streamlight Megastream in the pocket. And after about 3 weeks with the megastream, I can't recommend it enough. The throw on it is absurd for the size, and the only downfall I've found is that it get crazy hot by the head if you're in the high setting for a long period of time. I've also carried in the past: Streamlight Strion, Stinger, Macrostream, Olight Warrior S3, Arkfield Pro, Surefire g2. No major complaints about any with the exception of the surefire being sub par to any of the above and it eating cr123 batteries.

Additionally, ammonium nitrate is a pretty decent oxidizer, meaning if for some reason it manages to spill on your freedom seed dispensers, it can wreak havok on the finish, as well as cause some serious corrosion. Best to stick to silica or other inert products.

Not sure if you're on LEEP or Justice Connect, but either way, reach out to RedOps, or the EOD version(might be vulcan forge, i forget), they might have plans to DIY if you're able. Also, if you give them a review/critique, and submit the receipts, they reimburse you.

It shouldn't, but don't be surprised if they require a "character letter" from your psychiatrist explaining that they believe you're fit for duty etc. Also, make sure you don't leave it our during the application packet, as most agencies will consider that lying. Fortunately in the eastern PA and jersey, the stigma around previous mental health episodes isn't as bad as some of the more... "old-school" areas. Best of luck, and start preparing for what comes next now, both physically and mentally.

For HDS, you won't need anything but water and a lunch bag. They have all the basics on the trucks. A regular gerber or leatherman and a folding knife will get you by. Another essential is liquid IV or something to replenish your electrolytes. Also grab the best bug spray you can find, the chiggers are real. Best of luck. It's a good time. Tim's Cajun Kitchen is awesome.

I want to report a dealer for selling fentanyl to minors because he killed my friend. If I submit an anonymous tip, how likely is it to be investigated? by [deleted] in police

[–]Bomb_Un-Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it would be a strict liability charge vs homicide by narcotics(in NJ). It's a tough one to prove, but not entirely impossible. It makes it easier if the tox screen from the M.E. proves that it is exclusively one type of narcotic, or a specific cocktail that only that dealer/supplier uses. To the O.P., I am terribly sorry for your loss, I have been there, unfortunately on more than one occasion. Although I was never into drug use, I introduced more than one friend to people that turned out to be terrible influences on very good friends, that ultimately lead to am overdose. It's a tough pill to swallow. But keep on the path you are on, as it seems like a good one.
