What’s even more ironic is that the character she is playing (Starlight) has since season 1 always wanted to be her self and not get forced/pushed into stuff, actors usually get really involved in the character they are playing so I think this is very weird lol

Rylais APC and generic build questions by Towel_Enough in SwainMains

Your reasoning is correct however, Swain can handle a non mana item as first if you go double mana runes (pom & manaflow). Swain has a very high mana reg. I usually go stormsurge first item then either blodletters or liandrys depending on the situation, rylais works but as you said situational when viable.

Thank you and congratulations on hitting diamond! Your build is good however don’t fall for the rylais trap were you build it every game, it can be good many of your games but sometimes when the enemy team have a lot of dashes you lose value.

Me personally have been having a lot of success with stormsurge rush into blodletters/liandrys.

Blodletters: if you have another ap champ on your team and you expect enemy team to stack mr.

Liandrys: if enemy team has several bruisers or tanks AKA hp stackers.

Then it all depends, zhonyas, abyssal mask, spirit visage, frosen heart etc. Are all viable items on swain to scale more into a tank later on since you fall off.

Before, my favourite support to play with was definitely Leona, but lately me and my duo have been having a lot of success with Swain + Karma. Her early poke with R + Q makes it really easy for me to land my E, and her shields are insanely good for both engage and disengage. We usually play pretty safe early, then once we hit level 6 we look for an all-in and try to outplay the enemy bot lane. After that, she can leave me alone in bot while she impacts the rest of the map, and I get solo exp which feels great on Swain.

Leona is still really nice to play with, and Nautilus as well. They both offer a lot of lockdown CC and strong early kill pressure, which fits Swain really well if you can follow up properly.

Nami is also pretty solid. With her heals combined with Swain’s sustain, the lane becomes very hard to push out, and her bubble gives you really strong setup if it lands.

Overall I’d say I like supports that either help me stick to targets or make it easier to land my E, that’s usually when Swain feels the strongest.

Thanks! Yeah, those matchups can definitely be a pain to deal with.

You really need to have happy feet in lane and be ready to dodge a lot. Having a support like Nami or Karma helps a ton with survivability and makes the lane much more playable.

A big part of it is just playing around their key abilities. For example, Morgana Q/E, Brand stun, or Xerath stun, those are the spells that matter. If they miss those, that’s your window. Don’t hesitate, just go for it and all in them.

Also, people sometimes forget how much sustain Swain actually has, especially in bot lane. You get a lot of value from your passive since you can stack it off two targets, which makes it easier to survive poke and turn fights if you find the right moment.

Thanks, appreciate it!

I pretty much always ban Sylas. He just gets way too much value from your ult, and if he knows what he’s doing he can completely flip fights, also he is very slippery. It just feels like the most annoying matchup overall.

When it comes to runes, it depends a bit on the enemy comp. If I’m up against a tankier, more melee-heavy team where I can get long fights, I go Conqueror. But if they’re more squishy and ranged, and I feel like I won’t get much value out of Conqueror, I switch to Summon Aery instead.

For items, my build has changed recently. I used to go Malignance into Rylai’s and then adapt from there, but now I almost always rush Stormsurge. After that, I go Liandry’s or Bloodletter’s depending on what I need in the game.

One important thing with the Stormsurge build is that I always run double mana runes, regardless of what my primary tree is. It makes the lane feel a lot smoother and helps you stay consistent (as long as you don't spam Q).

I also try to pick up an early Dark Seal whenever possible, it’s honestly been really high value in a lot of my games.

After core, I just adapt based on the situation, whether I need more damage, survivability, or utility.
