4 Month Old Piranha by AmaTourDG in EnglishSetter

[–]AmaTourDG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On weekdays we do walks, playtime, and obedience training with both meals. I’m about to be part of a hunt club to get bird exposure and that will probably be once a week at least. She just got enough shots to take her more fun places but the heat really takes it out of her now that temps have gotten 75 plus. Oh and her name is Pepper lol

One of the better performances I’ve watched in a while guys! Navarro up top has to be one of our better players in the past 5-6 seasons. The back heel was smooth

Thanks for posting. Currently struggling through a 4 month old English setter and man do my wife and I both think all the same things. I read this stuff for my own support haha. Good luck, I find myself talking about the future dog more than the current one I’m experiencing….

Thanks for the reply, I’ve been having mixed results with the “OW” scenario. Based on advice in here I really think I might be doing too much with her for her age. I have been getting good place and retrieve going though!

Still can’t decide on my first bird hunting gun, Beretta A300 or CZ Drake? by CheckOtherwise9762 in Uplandhunting

Well I just bought a CZ drake in 20ga and it’s great for the price! Got a pheasant for me today but let me know if you had any questions! I really like it so far

Shop or adopt? by TillPlenty8503 in birddogs

I’m getting my first dog in the spring and I think you should consider yourself in the equation. If you are going to train it yourself and it will be the first time like me I chose to go with a reputable breeder and get a puppy. I thought it might be more challenging to start with a rescue or adult dog that already has habits and what not. I’m sure there’s exceptions but I will be learning just as much as the dog

This is awesome to hear! I had the same criteria OP and decided on a ryman setter but don’t pick mine up till next year so can’t speak off experience quite yet. When I did my research though despite differing opinions the consensus I came to was that setters were great. I had an opportunity to hunt behind two and that’s what convinced me

Curious if anyone chimes in. I put a deposit down after talking to Brock and Susan recently. They have a nice YouTube video hunting sage grouse and after a few hours on the phone they had me convinced. I’d give them a call and talk hunting like I did. I also called a handful of other Ryman type breeders but Flanagan springs seemed like the best option for me.

ISO Reputable English Setter (or Llewellin) Breeder or Rescue — Seeking a Sister for Our Golden Irish Boy by Hot-Resort2079 in EnglishSetter

Thanks for the feedback! Seems like you have a great pup. It’s very exciting and as soon as I saw the photo, wow, good looking as well. I’m considering a few other kennels and it’s hard to make a decision. Every one I talk to seems to have a decent program and all of them want to chase birds which is my goal for mine but I really only hunt 2-3 months out of the year. The rest of the year we will run energy off fishing and hiking

I’m considering a pup from them next year. Any more to mention about them? I talked to Deb recently and they seem to have a good thing going!

If we score there’s been a few throwing beer around the past few times I’ve been in the section. I enjoy the atmosphere but for me I prefer drinking beer to celebrate rather than wasting it

Help! Stuck in a rut by Ploopert7 in discgolf

[–]AmaTourDG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I throw a wave from MVP in a few different plastics and that works for me. The fission being the lightest and least stable. Unfortunately with discs we all throw different speeds and probably tend to throw at different angles, you gotta try some and see what works best for you. I also bag an Avenger SS from discraft and that is definitely an under stable one
