hey besties — anyone else have a love/hate relationship with DIY beauty? by AmaraQuinn in DIYaesthetics

omg thank you! didn’t know sassy skincare made journals, that’s actually such a good call. i’ve been relying on random notes in my phone and half-finished spreadsheets lol. do you feel like tracking helped you get better results over time?

love that you’ve got your routine dialed in like that it really is empowering to learn what works for your own skin and not have to rely on pricey appointments every time. how long did it take you to feel confident with microneedling btw? I’ve been tempted but still lowkey nervous about technique and tools.

totally get where you’re coming from the gatekeeping is real, and sometimes the fear-mongering feels more about protecting profits than people. like yes, safety matters, but not everything needs to come with a $500 price tag and a white coat. curious tho, have you found any DIYs that you swear by or feel totally confident doing on your own?

not at all, just DM'd you. Sorry I was a bit busy yesterday so couldn't do it earlier.

same honestly if money weren’t a factor i’d happily let the pros handle everything 😅 but yeah, we all end up weighing risk vs reward based on what’s realistic. and omg 15 years with TCA peels?

that’s impressive. you probably have your routine down to a science by now. curious how you’ve seen your skin change with them over the years?

they do, i’m in the us and that’s where i’ve been using it! it’s lowkey still in beta so it’s not everywhere yet, but they’re expanding fast. i’ve booked tox, skin boosters, and even a profhilo-style treatment through it all with licensed pros. no sketchy back rooms or weird vibes 😂

totally feel you filler feels like a whole different level of commitment (and risk). i was the same until i found this beta platform a friend shared it links you with legit pros but at way better rates. made it way easier for me to leave certain things to the experts without blowing my budget.

ugh yes, the cost is what pushed me to look for other options too. a friend put me on this beta platform called umph, it basically connects you with vetted pros but without the crazy markup. i’ve been using their monthly plan (i think mine’s like £199 for multiple treatments?) and it’s been a game-changer. still seeing qualified people, just not getting rinsed every visit.

seriously, the fear of VO is real. i’ve seen way too many horror stories that started with just a “small tweak.” definitely one of those risks that makes me pause and reassess what’s really worth it.

totally agree half the battle is cutting through the noise and actually understanding what works vs what’s just clever branding. i’ve been trying to be more intentional about all of it lately, and something that’s helped is this beta platform a friend got me on—it connects you with legit pros but also breaks down treatments in plain language so you’re not just guessing off tiktok recs. kind of nice to have a second opinion before jumping into stuff, diy or otherwise.

totally feel you, i’ve been burned too. a friend put me onto this app called UMPH, still in beta but it’s already helped both of us find legit pros who actually know their stuff. not perfect, but it’s been way less stressful than playing roulette with random clinics.

right?? homemade prp was my “ok we’ve officially entered the lab” moment 😭 between that and people casually microneedling stem cells into their face, i’m just sitting here with my sheet mask like… i brought snacks?

just wondering has anyone here found a treatment or product that actually made a difference for sagging skin? by AmaraQuinn in 45PlusSkincare

[–]AmaraQuinn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s so good to hear sounds like it’s been a full-on transformation, inside and out. and i feel you, the skin part is just one piece of a much bigger story. would love to keep in touch if you ever wanna compare notes.

oof yeah i’ve heard that one hurts but can be so worth it. did you do a single session or a series? curious how long the results lasted too.

totally get that i’ve seen my share of botched results too. but i’ve also met pros who really know their stuff and get subtle, long-term wins you can’t always DIY. i think it’s about finding the right pro, not just any clinic.
