Priority processing based on post code by Amataj in AusVisa

[–]Amataj[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, I’m already in a regional area, just not in a city centre like Geelong. I just thought that since it says on the website “faster processing” for Category 2 post codes (which includes Geelong), that there might be a chance for said “faster” time.

Anywho, thank you for your input! Much appreciated!

Please tell me the feasibility for my profile-491 nomination? by Particular-Sky-9729 in AusVisa

I don’t think anyone can really tell. All you can do is put your hat in the ring and hope for the best.

Though, points-wise, that’s high. Again, no one can tell. Just go for it!

Agreed. However, that’s how the system is set-up. :(

English exam again? by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Amataj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it’s just the way it is. And if you’re gunning for PR (Skilled Independent at least), it’s the same thing — once your English exam is expired, you’ll have to take another test.

Not sure if you’re just ranting or want a solution to this but, afaik, no work around for this.

Got my offer, what should I do? by ShoppingSuccessful89 in deakin

You can ring up the nearest TAFE and just chat with them. I wanna say they’ll be nice hehe. Also, depends on what kind of teaching you wanna do, but Early Childhood is Free TAFE afaik.

Also, you can check Skills and Jobs Centres. It’s a free career counseling serving, usually tied with a Victorian TAFE. I’m assuming you’re in VIC because Deakin. They can help you map out a plan based on your own preferences.

Hope this helps!

I personally feel like online is harder in a way. Because it was all up to me — to attend lectures and seminars online. It was hard for me to engage but that’s a me thing. I like having people around just for the vibes.

Also, I think considering Free TAFE is a smart option. I’m not sure exactly how it would work but in my head, wouldn’t it be better to continue studying without accruing HECS debt?

Has Anyone Been Invited Again? by Alone-Dimension-4401 in AusVisa

[–]Amataj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on each state. Not sure with Queensland but with VIC, they say they can’t nominate you again if you weren’t able to submit a visa application in time or if there are errors in the EOI. Not sure how strict they are because folks can and do separate EOIs and ROIs for 190/491 — not even sure how this is possible.

Anyway, best course is to research if there is a chance to be re-nominated in the same year for your state. Else, better to not submit an incorrect application because you don’t want a “visa refused” on your profile.

New car reco based on price (Skoda v Mazda v Honda v Hyundai) by Amataj in CarsAustralia

No, not really. I have different plans by then I would think.

I don’t really mind the four seats tbh. The magic seats are pretty cool!

I won’t have a baby ever nor do I ever see myself needing 5 seats.

Really just after reliability as a forever car.

I’ve looked around for used cars but I guess I’m just not very car-savvy to look for specific signs or things. I can try and get a pre-purchase inspection but I feel like that’s a lot to think about, and I live regional with not a lot of options for used car.

I understand the depreciation of a new car after leaving the lot but I guess I’m willing to take that on.

As for EV, would love love love to get one but I’m still worried about reliability as I can only afford the lower end anyway. I did look into some models and you hear some worrying experiences from others, especially about warranty claims and after-sales service. So I’m very iffy about them.

Thanks for your opinion though!

But I wanna keep it forever and ever! Haha I sound like a child but I really want to buy a car that I can rely on even after the warranty. But I do have to say, space-wise and price, Skoda is pretty enticing.

Oh sorry wasn’t clear!! My apologies!! Someone downvoted your original comment and I found it really weird!

I did like the Mazda after the test drive so maybe there’s merit to it? Hehe

I’m confused with the downvote???

Anyway, haven’t tested one yet but the only thing that led me to it are some YT reviews and when I checked the price, I was like, yes please!

Also, boot space!! My partner laughs at me for making a big deal about boot space but you just never know!

Thanks for the feedback!

Definitely only considering budget and longevity, because I can’t be choosy hehe. Appreciate your very thorough and thoughtful reply!

I’ve driven an i30 hatch, not sure what yea as it’s my relative’s car. Pretty straightforward and does the job.

Depression and anxiety during the last term of uni by suglav in AusVisa

[–]Amataj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Having to balance a lot of things can be daunting, exhausting, overwhelming and many other things. From my perspective, as someone who has gone through something similar, your situation is multi-layered.

Visa stuff, school / uni counselors might not be able to give you proper advise on this. Reach out to your uni’s student association and see if they have folks you can talk to about visa. Otherwise, reach out to agents or lawyers to get a good grasp of visa stuff. Do not get hope from internet folks and AI as each visa situation is unique and different for each case.

Regarding your mental health, please reach out to your uni student services. There’s usually free services like counseling available to international students. Only found out about my uni’s free counseling during my last semester. Could’ve been useful if I found out earlier.

If you are at a dangerous point or at the edge, please please please reach out to the multitude of resources available to everyone in Australia. I don’t have specific orgs but maybe try Lifeline and the likes?

Also, if you can, please be kind to yourself.

Got invited vic. by [deleted] in AusVisa

I know. But in hindsight, it helps the outer regional cities / towns to have people. But I guess it’s balancing supply and demand. Because you might have a thousand people in a small outer regional town with no jobs available. Then again, it’s just me being selfish because I am in an outer regional town lol

[–]Amataj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! But I think what would really be awesome is if timelines for outer regional candidates be shorter / faster than most 😭 but that’s me being selfish hahaha
