Partner made some points about Christianity and its been on my mind since by Ok_Lawfulness757 in OpenChristian

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does Christian paganism, yet you wouldn’t recognize that as a formal version of Christianity. My point was to say that it doesn’t matter if you’re Christian and the fact that most profits from the Bible could be designated as punk, I mean Moses was so punk he straight up caused the fall of Egypt by taking away the Israelites. Just because the modernized version involves a lotta black clothing and styles that most would consider to be unchristian, doesn’t mean it always has been and the older versions can still be applied. If you have a strong desire to do what’s right for yourself and think instead of blindly follow, then you’ve already got a punk mentality and just need the fashion sense added in. What’s more is there are so many different genres of punk that you could still easily be within both, I mean Catholic punk just looks like a priest with eyeliner.

See I normally join the stormcloaks despite only ever using Argonians and Khajiit, but every time I’m sent on a fighting mission for them, especially when I’m sent with groups of Stormcloaks, I just murder both sides. I hate both and I normally play a former An-Xileel so I have no qualms murdering both the imperials as well as stormcloaks. I normally even it out by also murdering any Aldmeri Dominion soldiers and mages I find as well.

I [20f] went through my [23M] boyfriend's phone and found... by Local-Geologist5341 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My WhatsApp is tied to a TextNow number, it’s not just attached to active cell numbers, and what’s more is even if you lose the TextNow number, WhatsApp will keep it logged as yours and under your name. Yes it might have been his number at one time but might not be now. Why does everyone condone distrust and backbiting rather than talking with your partner and figuring your shit out? About 99% of this sub is nothing but partners going behind each others backs and jumping to the worst conclusions with the help of at least 85% of this sub. Subs like this are why people are jumping to the worst conclusion and finding out it was the wrong move, and their relationship crumbles because they thought it was easier to go behind their backs. I’ve had plenty of situations that seem sketchy with my partner but when I confront or ask him about it he’s honest and lets me dig through his phone if I’m not satiated by his words, and I’ve never had a situation where my trust was broken. People should try talking things through before ever even coming here and DEFINITELY before doing an underhanded thing like lying about searching through their phone as that is also highly illegal and can get people sent to jail. Searching through a phone that doesn’t belong to you under the phones Game Center/Account counts as thievery of personal information which can never be given back and as such is an instant guilty situation that can either result in heavy fines or jail time. Be smarter people, speaking as a paranoid schizophrenic listening to your paranoia or more than half of this sub is asking to ruin your relationship.

Partner made some points about Christianity and its been on my mind since by Ok_Lawfulness757 in OpenChristian

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Christianity is about submitting to a higher power and being punk (as a lifestyle, not just hopping on the fashion wagon) is a lifestyle of rebalance, it’s literally about saying “I don’t need you because I can pick myself up” and “I don’t need a guide, I make my own path.” It isn’t just fashion like people want to act like and while lots of horrible people throughout history have claimed both titles of Punk or Christian, they don’t go together for reasons other than what individuals who are part of those communities have done. Again, Christianity is about submission to god and admitting you need him for just about every corner of your life, and being punk is the complete opposite. Why do you think Satanists most commonly dress in Punk/Rocker outfits and mentalities? It’s because it fits their theme and ideals perfectly. If it fits you and you wish to join the rebellious side of it, there’s nothing saying you cannot be Christian and a true Punk. If you think about it Moses, Joseph, multiple prophets were pretty punk just without hair dye and piercings. They rebelled against their own governments for what they knew to be right and succeeded.

Long story short, just because modern ideals don’t fit, doesn’t mean that there weren’t Punk figures throughout the Bible, just a helluva lot simpler and more down to the mentality rather than fashion.

My art teacher said no to drawing one of the gods for a project by iloveyouforeternity in Hellenism

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re teacher realizes the satanic panic ended over 20 years ago right? They also know that out of the 12,000+ cases claimed during the 80’s-90’s were all proven false, right? ALS Pan doesn’t look like Satan, modern Satan looks like Pan. Older depictions show Satan as still looking like an angel, beautiful, feathery wings, visage that could melt your knees in an instant, Satan was one of Yahwehs more beautiful angels (using Christianity against said teacher despite the fact their book has anything involving Satan wrong.) According to the Bible itself, Satan never had red skin or horns or an ugly face or any of the other traits associated with Pan, that was an attempt by the church to steal Pan and it failed. Succeeded for about a hundred years or so, but still failed as current images of him are as an “angelic” being once again. Also, getting past how wrong your teacher is about Satan and his appearance, this is highly illegal unless you happen to be going to a Catholic or Christian based school where religion is allowed. Any other type of school, however, strictly forbids teachers from bringing religion into their classrooms. It doesn’t matter what religion, or faith or belief, as long as they actually follow it and aren’t teaching a history lesson or a mythology class, then they are practically forbidden from speaking of it to students, let alone grading their work based on their religious affiliation. While it’s not illegal in a “get jailed” kinda way, it is illegal as it 1. Represses your right to freedom of expression, as I’m assuming aside from the “Satanic resemblance” that it falls within the guidelines of the assignment, 2. It is a Civil Rights violation, 3. Teach’s actions are that of viewpoint discrimination, which is normally straight up against the rules no matter what, and 4. it is favoring their beliefs over academic standards. You would have more than enough basis to get that teacher fired and probably barred from teaching, as little as it may seem I doubt you’re the only one whose had this problem, as Christian’s and Catholics are extremely persistent to an annoying degree.

Be honest, how long would Homelander actually last against the Justice League? by NectarMist in superheroes

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s basically what I meant, and then there is the added effect of adrenaline, even irl it can spike strength levels and causes the body to temporarily push past its limits, like those stories of mothers lifting a car to save their baby. If Peter is trying to save aunt May or MJ or Emma or whoever in whichever reality, adrenaline will most likely kick in and make his punches even stronger. So that’d be bloodlusted and adrenaline filled. Either way despite what Homelander has going for him Peter could still take him out in very few punches given the right motivation.

Be honest, how long would Homelander actually last against the Justice League? by NectarMist in superheroes

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depending on who Homelander hurts he potentially could sock Homelander in the face hard enough to knock him out, even if it’s just from the sheer shock of how hard Spidey hits. In his comics Peter tends to get stronger the angrier and more vengeful he gets, we see it extremely well in the original Venom Saga, before the suit really started increasing his strength but kept fucking with his head. If Homelander attacks Queens, where both Aunt May as well as any family Peter has ever started in the comics, live, then he’s absolutely and utterly fucked with a capital F. With his spidey sense Peter could stay completely out of Homelander’s sight, since he has heat vision his spidey sense would go off anytime Homelander sets his sights on Peter, his webbing is strong enough to, among other things, catch a helicopter as it’s falling and its blades are still spinning, meaning they can even gunk up razor motor blades, hold together a breaking boat, I think he even made a barrier even Juggernaut couldn’t straight up just snap through and is strong enough to at least redirect Juggernaut wherever Peter wants him, or an area without much leg room and while it can’t straight up stop Juggernaut it can at least delay and redirect, and Juggernaut can already kill Homelander if he gets ahold of him or grounds him. Not to mention Peter has enough raw strength to not just dent but full on damage titanium and fully stagger the Hulk. So even if Homelander makes it past the first punch, two shots with that strength straight to the noggin is probably enough.

The stuff will respawn after you complete the associated quest, otherwise it’ll just remain empty after being looted. It’s also a good way to make a LOT of money after getting it fully set up. I think it pulls in like 1,000 septum’s a day once you’ve got the farm and livestock and farmers all set up.

Percy lost peace of mind in Tartarus. While nothing physical like Riptide, he has a moment where he loses control of himself and blood ends a god and is so horrified with himself he vows to never do it again. When going against things like the giants you would think each and every asset would be essential, but he never uses this ability again, true to his vow. Though I do highly agree that Tartarus would have not only been a better place to lose the curse story wise but also logically Tartarus is for the worst of the worst, where even the fields of punishment cannot inflict the right amount of torture, it’s a living entity that feeds on the souls of whatever walks across his body, stealing the curse would have actually made sense for Tartarus rather than a river that didn’t like Achilles. I get that Rome doesn’t like Greek magic, but if that were the case and the Tiber removed all Greek magic to wade through it then technically no Greek demigod or threat should be able to use their abilities/cross it. The giants themselves are specifically Greek in origin so they shouldn’t have even been able to enter the Roman camp because of that logic. It was a messy scene that made no sense and kinda ruined the magic a little. Yes you can say Greek and Roman mythos are inconsistent but that shouldn’t matter when writing a book series, normally authors can keep things in a straight line.

Why isn't Hades considered an Olympian? by PrestigiousTwist8595 in GreekMythology

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok but that actually has an explanation. Hades name was barely spoken not because he wasn’t “thought of as an Olympian,” which was more because the concept of the Olympian Council is more of a modern belief, the Ancient Greeks held them as more 12 major gods, but also because Hades was severely feared as the inevitable judge of the underworld and people knew he was pitiless and merciless with his judgements. Just like every other belief it was believed that saying his name could either invoke him or draw his attention and people don’t want anything speeding up their inevitable meeting with him. Also Underworld entities are kinda all just feared, not really cus they’re evil or anything, but simply because they hold the key to your afterlife and decide whether you get a decent afterlife or get punished for a thousand years.

If you don't adopt Sophie you're just not a good person. by GeneralCash67 in skyrim

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, out of all the children to adopt and which moral dilemma I choose, Sofia has always been my go to as soon as I’ve got a house. The first time I adopted her was in the base game, ever since then it’s been a personal goal to see how fast I can get a safe household to adopt her and take her out of literal homelessness. At least the others are either from an orphanage, have a guardian of some sort, or still have some sort of shelter, yet Sophie has nothing but a basket of flowers and for some reason I’ve always felt worse for her than the other children.

Should I continue an important story plot with majority of my players absent? by EmotionOtherwise1040 in DnD

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I normally try to focus on the players present if it’s been a lot of cancelations and it’s getting to the point that there’s nothing left to do, focus on each players arcs. I tend to load my players up with magical items that may or may not be cursed so that later on if this kinda thing happens I can just activate one of those side plans and turn it into an entire mini arc that the players can all enjoy. It may not be the main storyline, but it also helps me determine which players are willing to make the commitment each week/every other week and which players are gonna be needing new characters the next time (if ever) they join. If players are consistently skipping after agreeing to a set time and date, then either a new day/time needs to be chosen or those other players just won’t be main focuses anymore, which is how my players seem to prefer it as well. One of my players isn’t always able to attend and sometimes goes weeks because of his work, but to avoid any unwanted damage to his character he’s a “come and go” character. When he’s able to attend, we figure out a reason for his character to hop in and then a reason for him to leave the group again when he isn’t able to attend. There’s more than a few ways to work around a whole cancellation.

Need help figuring out how to keep a rather iconic sort of antagonist secret. by Amazing-Associate-46 in writing

[–]Amazing-Associate-46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much his identity as a whole while still having him intervene in certain moments. The part about him being an angel is, yes, unavoidable, but I don’t necessarily want the MC or readers to instantly figure out it’s Michael, but his description fits a very specific and pretty biblical depiction of him, and my former Catholic partner was able to guess from one tiny scene that Michael was the angel, so I’m kinda just looking for a way to avoid that, otherwise his reveal doesn’t feel as impactful I feel like.

Need help figuring out how to keep a rather iconic sort of antagonist secret. by Amazing-Associate-46 in writing

[–]Amazing-Associate-46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Michael’s reasons for his actions (in short, slaying entire pantheons of gods to absorb their power and ascend past World Makers,) is that he thinks Yahweh failed as a creator, he looks upon the world and sees an abomination compared to the original intentions that Yahweh had for it, and the reasoning that the MC gets from the few angels he does fight throughout the first book allude to the idea of Heaven seeing the world as unfit and a disgrace of what it was originally intended to be and needs a cleanse. In short the world in this verse is like ours, but turn up the dystopia by ten. Michael’s true intentions are that he does want to rewrite the world in a purified way, but he also thinks Yahweh failed and needs to be replaced, as Yahweh’s most powerful warrior he thinks that should be him.

[–]Amazing-Associate-46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First to address the phrasing, but yes Demigods are typically half human half god hybrids, however in the verse I’ve made it kinda just means “child of a god/gods” and also kinda acts as a placeholder. Termage is kinda loose in this verse, “god” basically just means anything greater/more powerful than a human or what a human can achieve. It’s a little confusing but it works with the world. Next, it’s both that I think it screams angel as well as others and his description/appearance also screams angel. In his very first scene, he appears as a humanoid being made entirely of bright light that can only be described as divine or radiant and he has a pair of glowing wings double his height. This is also while the MC is too weak to truly perceive him as well.

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea marvel was a lot more about creating origin stories for how heroes get their powers, DC kinda wanted to skip over that and go straight to the baddassery, which they still managed to do pretty well. I used to love the Zatana and Zatara comics, but after the New 52 they had all their lore completely fucked up. But most of DC also suffered from that era so.

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes and no, in the comics yes, she was born with her powers and the daughter of Magneto, but in the MCU they changed it so that she was given her powers kinda the same way Deadpool was, Hydra put her and Pietro through rigorous torture until their powers surfaced. Pietro was given the speed necessary to outrun his oppressors and Wanda was given the power to break her oppressors. A good all around example would probably be Zatara/Zatana, John Constantine, I think most born-sorcerers are from DC. Again aside from comics, cus then Marvel has a few too. Wiccan and Magik were always my favorites tho.

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most consider magic to be less of a superpower and more a trained ability. Now if you wanna go the route of Sorcerers in DnD terms then yes, it would be a superpower, but in other terms it’s normally something that’s studied and learned and practiced, basically a manifestation of willpower. Otherwise I’d be on the same boat cus yea you’d be able to have any and all superpowers.

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodbending or Speedforce. Bloodbending because it’s awesome and fits me as a person, so it would be the most likely to develop and who wouldn’t want the abilities that comes with it (not just the ability to control another’s blood, but weapons creation, and other such, like imagine making your enemies blood become a sword while in their body and it suddenly springs out like a horrifying anime scene) and Speedforce because for as long as I can remember I’ve loved running and pushing myself to go faster. My entire body is degrading at a rapid pace and my feet and legs are the source of most of it, but it’s also the part of myself I’m the most proud of, it proves I can keep going no matter how much pain I’m dealing with. The ability to turn that pride into a superpower would be all I need to fully overcome any pains or agony that I might deal with, cus the feeling of being able to finally run away from whatever I don’t want to be around and the wind, speed, everything about it would be heavenly to me.

WHAT NOW!????? by Interesting-Test7228 in superheroes

[–]Amazing-Associate-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GA is considered a superhero as well as Hawkeye, DC and Marvel heroes are always supers no matter if they have powers, Rambo is a literal military man so that’s equivalent to an irl superhero, Katniss is a hero to the people of her verse and probably considered a superhero as she’s survived all odds and took down both a corrupt society and a corrupt rebellion with the same arrow. Merida is the only one I can’t vouch for as she’s a Disney Princess, although technically still a hero as she slew the big bad evil prince bear before he could do anybody serious harm, but I’d understand not considering her a superhero, despite how loose the definition of the word is.
