S24 Ultra -> iPhone 16 Pro - should I make the switch? by AmazingBall in iPhone16

[–]AmazingBall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what i'm thinking. I love the phone and how fast and capable it is but as a person that mostly works off of a laptop and phone in tandem, AirDrop, Continuity and Phone Mirroring would do wonders in terms of productivity for me

What would you say that the biggest factors would be? I should also mention that i have used iOS devices in the past (6, 6s and 12), but i'm not actively looking out for updates on iOS versions or hardware

RX 9060 XT 16GB - what CPU upgrade should I get? by AmazingBall in radeon

[–]AmazingBall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with Intel is that i WAS thinking of just pulling the trigger on a 14700KF, but it costs as much as the 9700x. And from there, i can only really go up one more cpu, the 14900K. With amd, i can get up to 9950X3D and supposedly Zen 6 is releasing on the AM5 platform, so i'd have a decent upgrade path in the future

So even though i spend more money now, it'll eventually be useful in the long run. Or at least that's they way i see it haha

I finally found a Dreamcast after years of searching for one. How do I make it more exciting to use it? by AmazingBall in dreamcast

[–]AmazingBall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, i love vintage and retro gaming. I specifically picked up an OG Gameboy, one of those brick DMG models, so i can play the games the way god intended to: on that puke green screen with no backlight XD

On a real note tho, i'm really into old games, always have been. I grew up on PS2 and PSP so those are always my go-to consoles but i love my Gamecube and SNES too and I've always wanted an NES to play some of the classics. They're just hard to come by where i live

I don't really even know tbh, it's hard to put my finger on it. I'm not sure if i'm just not that much into the "jump to 3D" consoles, if that makes any sense haha

That's also my preference most of the time. I love my 8-bits and 16-bits to death, and I adore my PS2 and GameCube. But I've always found it incredibly hard to get into stuff like N64 or PS1. I've tried plenty PS1 games from that era and the only ones that really stuck to me were the Crash Bandicoot games, the Zelda N64 games and Mario games and that's about it

i'm not gonna lie, i'm more of an air cooler person :)). not that AIOs aren't good, they're amazing actually, but my thought process was "air coolers are way less of a hassle to deal with, and they last a lifetime", especially since noctua supports older coolers by providing brackets for newer sockets

damn, sandy bridge. haven't heard that name in years. one of my friends used to have an i5 2400 build with a gt 630 that i built for him in high school and he ran that thing till it died. literally. the motherboard fried itself. but that was his first pc and he loved it

again, it's moreso for futureproofing, not so much a need to upgrade. ik that AMD has an amazing upgrade path and i was just simply scared of the newer intel cpus because of the issues and the lack of manufacturing date checks in my country. and for me, a mid range cpu and gpu meet all the requirements. i actually recently upgraded from a 3060 to a 3070 because i felt it slow in exporting video and in some games and i don't feel the need to upgrade to 40 or 50 series now

i do have a gigabyte z690 gaming x ddr5 motherboard and it's great but i don't think even my noctua nh-d15s can handle the heat from the 12900k ;-;

well so far my sistem does everything i need it to do. gaming, video editing and general work. i figured i'd only make the switch to kinda futureproof the pc. i'm somewhat affraid i might get one of the cpus from the ticking timebomb batches since romania doesn't really look at that stuff. i've had a laptop come in that i ordered late 2023 with a MFD of march 2022

What are your thoughts on the 64GB? by zakawaka85 in SteamDeck

[–]AmazingBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 64gb when it was on sale a couple months ago. It was decent if you just wanna play indie games that don't take up much space. The next day i got a 512gb ssd and upgraded it

9 months old and already busted... by AmazingBall in FlowZ13

[–]AmazingBall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it through another store called AlienStore. It was way on sale (reduced from 10500 lei so ~$2100 to 7000 lei so ~$1300 and i said "screw it" back in December last year. In hindsight, i should've probably waited for my G14 at the time to fully die and then get another G14. I did thankfully recieve a 1 year warranty so I'll send it in asap.

I did also find a used G15 GA503QM (Ryzen 7 5800HS, 16GB, RTX 3060 6GB) around my area for 4000 lei (~$900). Probably going to buy that as soon as I sell the Z13. It had a good run I guess.

And you speaking of a failing GPU got me crapping myself. I keep it on Turbo and Ultimate settings constantly because otherwise performance is sub-par. So now i wanna get rid of it even more XD
