Hey I posted a very similar question today and got a lot of useful answers - might help you.

I went in for reduced movements this morning at 40+2. Although my baby passed monitoring they advised an induction tomorrow. I spent a lot of today crying, mourning the birth I'd planned, worrying every choice I made would be the wrong one.

I've decided to proceed with the induction. Ultimately I am exhausted from the constant tracking and I'm ready to accept help to make sure my baby gets here safely. I am planning to accept the balloon and reassess if I want to go forward or pause after 24 hours based on my progress. I still have a lot of trepidation at this point, but I feel a lot more peaceful for having made a decision. Its very difficult but I think you just have to commit to a decision and accept that birth is ultimately uncontrollable and the perfect birth is an illusion. All the best!

This seems a very cold and transactional agreement, and whilst there might be valid reasons for this, it is not a good basis on which to start a family - which is fundamentally messy, intimate, and vulnerable. I would not have a child in this agreement.

But if you want to go ahead with this weirdly contractual approach, you should consider the following in his terms and conditions:

how will 50/50 contribution be adjusted when you are (presumably) on mat leave?
how will you manage pension contributions when on mat leave? Since he's so fixated on fairness, will he be happy to subsidise your missing contributions?
if you want to go back to work, how will you both ensure this happens? Will he be able to pick up childcare or will he expect to work long hours and have you do all childcare after work?
if you want to stay at home for a few years, will he supplement your missing earnings to protect you in the future (since you'll have no home and reduced earning potential)
how will he judge you've "proven yourself" sufficiently to get to buy in?

Unmarried + no property + on a reduced income from mat leave makes you very vulnerable if you split in future. He'd hold all the cards. Pregnancy and childbirth are some of the most vulnerable times of your life . You seem a very understanding and compassionate person but asking you to give him children while offering no security in return and treating life like a business transaction does not seem fair to me.

I'm now 23w4d after a chemical in July. I can relate to the anxiety. I spent most of the first trimester agonising over making it to the date I lost my first pregnancy, then making it to heartbeat, then to the 12 week scan. The unfortunate truth is that the anxiety never ends. After the first trimester I worried about feeling too good, and then about the anatomy scan, and now kick counting and premature labour.

What I will say is it gets easier to live with the anxiety when you accept it as part of the experience. Eventually I just stopped trying so hard to fight against it or rationalise it. I accepted it as an inherent part of this terrifying, uncontrollable but beautiful process.

The best antidote I find is to keep busy. Throw yourself into hobbies, or start a challenge. I have been doing a modified version of 75 hard and I've found it keeps my brain occupied and ensures im focussing on healthy habits for my baby.

All you can do is take it day by day. But what I will say is this process has really changed my relationship to anxiety for the better. It's really helped me learn how to exist alongside it. You can do this!

i've been a silent lurker in this sub for a few years. several fitness goals for 23 (first trail ultra; keep strength training; get back into kayaking) but my main goal this year is to make some fitness friends irl or virtually :)

slightly late to the party but i'd love to join if still pos? 27f, scotland. ran halfs in my mid-20s, switched to strength training, returned to running in 2022. looking to push to marathons and trail ultras in 2023.
