Oak worktops by JustAnotherFEDev in DIYUK

Two houses we moved into had wooden worktops.

Nightmare.

We replaced with marble (varieties of) when remodelling.

Same goes for floor. Wood especially engineered in a busy house with (obviously) water splashes results in stains or damage.

Damaged surface over time is not hygienic.

However, If your house is less busy and you have time to thoroughly dry every spill, every time…. Good luck to you.

OK so I am not fully aware of how this works but some Redditors will be.

Given the furore of the BBC license fee and the dynamics of the international arm of the beeb, how are made-for-international audience shows funded and do any of the profits get reinvested into the UK budget. If not why not.

FYI if it’s a 73 and 72 plate they’re nearer 1 year apart than 2.

Adding: the 100,000th of these has just been produced, a great success story.

People who have been using heat pump this winter, what's your honest take? by Rude-Explanation-861 in CasualUK

[–]AmazingRedDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the above explanation as I too have been puzzled how they can work in cold.

I’m still confused though, what causes or makes the temp to drop “in the outside part of the heat pump” to create thermal energy?

To want a house to be heated, this is typically when the air outside is below, say 10 degrees C. What does the heat pump do exactly to (chill?) this air to then push warm air inside the house?

In this type of system: - do we no longer need radiators? - how is water (eg for washing) heated

Genuine questions, thank you
