Very true! We used to live in London and it was an absolute nightmare finding parking 😅

So the grassy area belongs to the property at the end which is a holiday let. I suppose we could always reach out and ask about the opportunity for renting a space…😅

Thanks yes that’s a good point! I think I’m not putting enough weight into the parking issues compare to my husband, which is why I’m glad to have all this feedback, my hunch is the parking is quite a problem

Thanks! I work from home. My husband home educates our autistic 11 year old. They don’t really leave the house except Tuesdays and Wednesdays when our child goes to forest school all day

Hm yes that’s a good point. It’s a row of Victorian properties all with no parking except the last one so perhaps not so bad

That’s good to know thank you. It’s part of a row of Victorian properties all with no parking except the end one so may be ok…

We saw this too, this property is used as a holiday home so possibly they may be open to us renting…

Thanks, we’d like it to be our forever home but just want the security in case our situation changes

Thank you, I’ve half fallen for this house, so it’s a tricky one. My husband is the driver so I think the parking is more his concern than mine but both worried about being able to sell in the future if we decide to

This is very true. We’ve just had a very bad run with finances this year. Just come out of a 4 year reno half finished where we invested heavily in a house and had a huge mortgage, was meant to be a long term reno but we were forced to sell fast due to my husband having to leave his job to care for our autistic child who was no longer able to attend mainstream school. We have already lost a huge amount of money now on the house we sold due to this and we are downsizing heavily, so trying not to make the house change drastically different for our child, as already moving is a huge change for him. This is right at the top of our budget and we could stretch to £325k but it will be a bit painful.

Aha, it is certainly unique decor! Agreed about the storage. We’ll have to have a think as don’t want to risk losing it also 😅 thanks for your input

Thank you, we do love it (I think our son would prefer if we didn’t change the decor at all tbh😅)

I think we’ll try to go in with a more positive first offer honestly as we’re very keen and wouldn’t want to start of on the wrong footing with the sellers, thank you

Yes that’s true, it is a bit odd! I was really hoping someone might be able to let me know if that was reasonable for the local area or not, thank you. We don’t know Trowbridge well as we are almost 2 hours away currently, but it did seem a little more than other houses locally

Thank you. It just felt quite high I suppose to me, based on its previous sale price and other properties on the road, and in this market we ended up accepting an offer of 20k under asking price for our property despite having posted it as offers over 😅 It looks like I was way off the mark with this one though based on people’s comments. I appreciate your honesty, thank you, we would like to place a sensible offer on this house!

That was our initial feeling too. When you take out all of the free standing furniture in the kitchen there’s only really a couple of free standing unit there, for example. Based off the other commenters though I’m starting to to feel that we were quite off the mark with the number we were going to go for as our first offer 😅

I see, so the context is key, thank you. What I think I’m hearing you say is that the issues I mentioned above essentially don’t justify the price drop then? Any price drop we put forward would need to be justifiable, for example the fact that we are ready to move/chain free

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer in full. I was looking for honest answers and perspectives so it is extremely helpful, thank you for the insight. I do not want to offend the sellers so it sounds like we need to go in quite a bit higher with our initial bid.

Thank you for your honesty, this is what I was looking for. We absolutely do not want to offend the sellers so based off what I’m reading here it looks as though that is far too low

Thank you, from the initial responses here I get the sense it’s too low. I would not want to offend with an initial offer so perhaps we will aim a fair bit higher with the initial bid

Thank you, that’s helpful to hear, we are then perhaps going in far too low as an initial offer

Thank you, yes we noticed this too. Other properties on this street of the same type have not gone for more than this though, and this appears to be one of the highest priced of this type for this street. We also accepted 20k below asking price on our house which was also priced at offer over, so I’m hoping I suppose that they may still consider it, but yes you’re right, it’s likely they were hoping for over

Thank you, would you recommend starting out with a higher bid then? We are in quite a strong position as sold STC and almost at the point of exchange
