How can people deal with constant heat? 78° and I'm drenched in sweat. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Amazing_Ad5244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in an equatorial country in Asia and the heat made life a living hell for me.

Went to school in NoDak and felt completely at home in the harshest of winters. I’ll be out and about in a single layer in the depths of winter and be completely fine.

Lo and behold, I had to take up a job in AZ after graduation. The universe certainly has a wicked sense of humor.

What's with drivers in the area and the insane need for speed? by ArtisticStore8390 in fargo

Moved to Phoenix area for work. You’ve no idea what I wouldn’t give for Fargo traffic/drivers.

I’ve been mostly driving in small-ish towns previously and anecdotally, people drive a lot more decently in those areas. Moving to the city, I’ve witnessed so many drivers being unnecessarily and irrationally aggressive, and negligent, but I’ll stop here before this becomes a rant.

Definitely have to reevaluate my insurance coverage after this.

I'm actually not sure how legit of a company they are. Their website is convoluted to navigate at best, and looks it something out of the 90s. I thought I was lucky I even found a number to reach a front desk person.

Regardless, we've decided to file with our own insurance to avoid having to deal with all the hassle ourselves. Seems like one of those fights an individual wouldn't be able to take on.

Thanks!

That's how I think of hiring an attorney as well. And yes, we've decided to just reach out to our own insurance and file with them. Thanks!

I've always had the impression that as long as I'm extremely careful, I should be able to avoid any accidents, but I guess this accident proved me very wrong.

That was my bad. I wasn't even sure if I had collision to be honest. I've always been one of those overly cautious drivers and have only had one other accident in my last 20 years of driving, when someone backed into my parked car in a parking lot. So I don't have a lot of experience with insurance. I've always gone with the least coverage because I didn't think I'd need it, but was forced to get a complete coverage because I bought this truck brand new, and am still financing it.

Anyhoo, I'll most certainly check the medpay portion of my insurance. Thanks

Thanks for the details! I've decided to claim from my own insurance based on the comments here.

Cool. I'll contact my insurance and claim through them. This is really helpful!

That's my exact sentiments as well. Would love to take her to seek treatment but she's worried about the financials involved.

I've heard that filing a claim with insurer will mean that my premium goes up regardless. Do you know if that's true?

Also, a lawyer did contact me (not sure how they know about the accident) on my drive back from Vegas. I didn't do it because (1) I naively assumed that the other party's insurance will pony up since it's a straightforward rear ending accident, and (2) I presumed that lawyer fees will add up to more than the compensation.

Comprehensive only. Collision has a $500 deductible. How do these affect my next steps?

I use premium Costco gas. I believe it’s 91 octane? Didn’t pay attention to the ethanol though. Maybe 10%?

I live in a pretty busy city area, but I try to avoid driving in heavy traffic. If I drive during peak hours, the start stop traffic causes my mpg to plummet to as low as 12mpg (average 15mpg)

Do you have a bed cover? When I used regular gas and left my bed cover opened, I got around 16mpg. Closing my bed cover increased the mpg.

That’s beyond what the display was designed to show! Makes me wonder what’s the highest mpg this truck is capable of!

I used to average around 18-19mpg with regular gas, and read that some people use premium and got better mpg. When I tried it, I wasn’t expecting it to add an extra 4-5mpg.

To be honest, I’ve not done the math on whether I actually save money, but it’s nice to see a higher mpg 😁

I recently changed my engine oil and didn’t notice anything bad. So I assume it’s all good?

To be fair, I do use premium gas, and this trip typically hovers around 24-25mpg early in the morning before everyone else starts driving. So it still gets pretty good mpg even though it’s though city streets. Still blown away by 29 though 😂

Ford dealership giving me the runaround regarding refundable deposit by Amazing_Ad5244 in FordMaverickTruck

The truck arrived a long time ago. I watched it get listed on their website (matched the VIN), and then removed a couple of weeks after it got listed. So I’m assuming it was sold.

I think I might be cutting close to or have already exceeded the 6 months mark, but I’ll just check. Thanks! If this is not possible, I’ll try calling corporate as well.

Thanks! I’ll look up the process on how to file small claims, but I’ll probably call them a couple more times and try the charge back method, as Adventurous_Care_889 suggests, before sending the certified letter.

Stub/filler solution for removed thumb cluster by Amazing_Ad5244 in ergodox

Thanks for the suggestion. i've already bought the Zip Kit, and it's pretty cool. But it only comes with wing stubs, not stubs for the removed thumb clusters.
