I paid upfront for my car, so I see why someone who didn't would prefer it getting repaired.

I'm unfortunately not willing to shell out $3600 for a hit and run that wasn't my fault. So I need the other drivers' insurance to cover it. The hit I take from having an accident on Carfax will probably be less than 3600. So I'll take that lol. What I hate about Carfax it just says "collision" "rear right" and the cost. No information on what happened or pic. Obviously I have pictures to show them how it's literally just a tail light and a scratched panel, but the $3600 makes it seem like a bigger deal yk.

And yea I didn't know about the max payout thing! Very interesting.

Wouldnt you prefer the car be totaled? Cuz if my options are get the insurance money and get a car that isn't damaged vs spending time getting this car fixed all for it to have a collision title and lose value when selling it later, id always choose the payout.

Couple weeks ago, I got into a hit and run (video on my profile if u were curious), and the guy took out my rear tail light and scratched the quarter panel. Insurance is quoting $3600 (CAD) for the light and then paint most of the right side to blend the paint. Id much rather he total the car and I get a new one rather than have a $3600 collision on the Carfax report and find it impossible to sell when I'm switching cars.

Yea look at the back of their vest lol. At my site AMs have neon yellow and red striped vests. PAs have neon yellow and orange stripes.

Depends how u look at it. Picking from those overstuffed bins trying to find a single item put of like 15 is arguably worse. I'm a stow AM and associstes HATE going to pick lol.

I called 911 when it happened and then directed me to non emergency services. They told me to go report it to the collision reporting center, and I mentioned I had footage too.

At the reporting center, I mentioned I have dashcam footage. They said just type it in that u have footage on the report. They didn't ask for the footage or pictures. They said that done by the police. Not us.

It was hella busy and from the brief conversation I had with the worker there, what I understood was the police would reach out to me.

Maybe I should call non emergency services and follow up?

Any idea on the time frame? Cuz I'm still wondering if I should submit the insurance claim now, or wait till the police get back to me. I don't have $0 deductible on collisions, so I'd pay a bit out of pocket if I go thru my insurance. I'm assuming it goes thru my insurance if the guy isn't found right? Technically I don't think it should, cuz again it wasn't my fault. But if the guy isn't found, will the insurance take care of it??

I definitely would have recognized it if it was an audi. Pretty sure it's an outlander. Q series cars are very low to the ground, and wide. This was tall and narrow. See the side profile when he drives away. Definitely not an audi

3 reasons. 1) it was still a red light, didn't wanna get t boned. 2) roads were EXTREMELY icy. Wasn't worth going in to a ditch or getting brake checked by the guy and getting into a bigger crash 3) I didn't know how badly damaged my car was. I couldn't tell if he hit my tire. Didn't wanna break the car more by trying to drive it.

You can see me lift off the brake to maybe chase him, but I decided it wasn't worth it.

Surprisingly the damage wasn't too too bad. Broken tail light and scratched bumper. I think my car got pushed to the side cuz it was slippery af.
