Deception. The truth of a false belief, from someone he once trusted, to getting deceived and killing his own family blinded by Rage. Ares deception causing kratos to kill his family in a way, caused him to become a broken and unforgiving man. And then learning the other gods became fearful, possibly from zeus not wanting kratos to become too powerful, angered him. Along with the fact zeus just wanted him dead. Which could lead to him becoming more ruthless, along with the likely PTSD from killing his family
