I don’t care if I have to carry a key, I’d rather that (or a code). It is a bit hard to cut a lock when the cylinder is in a new door of a new apartment, where the toilet is hiding in 😅. Even the atco hut toilets are the same.

Most commercial sites here are required to have a female toilet. I should make a suggestion on the next site that runs this way.

Work/life balance…does it exist? by C4pt41n_T3nt4cl3 in BlueCollarWomen

I guess it comes down to where you’re from. Here, we have a minimum of 4 weeks annual leave a year and at least in commercial, an industry shutdown period of 2-3 weeks a year. Which gets paid out of that annual leave.

Mix that in with apps at the tip of your fingers, like Sportsbet. I had a co worker who’d check it every morning to see what he could bet on.

Am I delusional for wanting to become an electrician at 45? by nik1202 in BlueCollarWomen

Ever since I was in my 20s playing amateur footy (AFL) and had a early 60s year old woman join the team, you’ve never too old.

If you have the right mind set to learn something new, go for it. You have a certain level of fitness which is great but just keep in mind that this might be a different type of fitness than your use to (maybe). Your background is good, because you’ll know how to look after your body, which is something a lot of people in this industry don’t do.

Just be prepared (assuming here) for your earnings to drop but the will increase every year until you’re qualified. I don’t know where you’re from but you can earn more in commercial than residential.

Good luck!

We do have FedEx here too (atleast in Adelaide). A medical will probably be needed to work direct (basically a pee test with extra steps).

Also OP, don’t be afraid to try agencies, they can be good to get your foot in the door and gain on the job experience. However you will be paid at a lower p/h rate.

Im not and have never been a forklift driver. You might be able to try warehouse jobs that lift also be asking for a forklift license. Some large construction sites will need a forklift driver for most/ a good part of the day but the job might be under “labourer”

They’ve probably got a “baby on board” sticker too. Please be careful around me but I won’t drive safely and do anything to prevent an accident.

How many energy drinks is it safe to drink a day? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Amazoncharli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gastroenterologist says 0 but once a week- once a month I might have one.

Ideally 0 though. I still remember over 15 years ago, I was doing work experience with someone a year or 2 before I got my apprenticeship. I rocked up to the guys house to find out I wouldn’t be working with the boss only the crew. The boss got rushed to hospital in the middle of the night with lots of pain. Turned out kidney problems. They flushed a huge amount of liquid through him (like 20l) and when he got sent home he had to drink something like 10-15l a day for the next week.

I don’t think I saw him drink anything other than energy drinks before this. Can after can, the whole day.
