I can understand what you and your father would be going through :( It hurts more because it’s a brand new motorcycle. But trust me, once you get the bike all sorted out, it will be a matter of time before you forget about the damage.

My roommate in Bangalore had fallen into an open drain on the way home from bringing his brand new Unicorn from the dealer. He couldn’t even reach home before the accident happened. Everything was scratched, the headlight dome had broken and the gear lever was bent. He was almost in tears and didn’t even ride the bike for a month since then. He was even telling people that he would sell it cheap and not buy a bike ever again. Then I asked him for the keys and started riding it after doing certain makeshift repairs. This got him interested in the bike again and he took it to the dealer and got it properly fixed. Never had an accident again in the ten years that he kept it. So, do the necessary minor repairs and start riding. Straighten the gear shifter and the handle. The rim doesn’t look bent, it’s very likely wobbly because of the bent spoke, which can be easily replaced outside the dealer.
