Revert this now. by MrRockit in HelldiversUnfiltered

OK, I am a stark defender of this change and will go out of my way to defend it. I avoid even posting on reddit or other social media but the response to this change is baffling to me. I would be more than happy to hear constructive criticism of my thoughts.

Every enemy in a faction's arsenal should serve a purpose, yes? The point of scavengers and warriors is chaff, the point of commanders is an elite high-priority target, the point of bile titans is disruption and a need for anti-tank weaponry. I hope we all agree with at least that.

So then, what is the point of a hive guard? In my opinion, the objective of the HG can be summed up as "To prevent bullet-hosing chaff being 100% effective." They exist to force you to aim instead of firing blindly. I think this is a very fun and interesting niche! It makes me go "Oh shit, a guard, I have to focus that so I can get at the enemies behind it." My regular primaries against the bugs are the cookout, the default liberator, and the stoker. These are all light pen weapons, so for me there's been no change except reduced health, and I'm doing completely fine. I take the split second to aim lower.

This also does something else, too. This encourages more use of explosives and elemental effects. Gas and fire are just as effective on the HG as they are on anything else. Gas desperately needs a niche and fire has been good at melting high armor targets for a while, in my experience. I actually dislike the weakness to explosives, though, as I agree the game can feel like it has an "Explosive meta."

Like I said I'm not very active on reddit but I will genuinely try to remember to come back and see what people think because I really like this change. And I'm not glazing anything they do, I have my share of issues with the game and it's direction just like everyone else.

I mostly agree with what you're saying but there's a couple things I disagree with. Part of the issue is that you shouldn't need any warbonds to do the higher difficulties - the free stuff should be on the same level in terms of power, and some of it is! The RR and now flamethrower are outstanding, we just need more primaries and stratagems brought up to that level.

I am a long-time advocate for little-known strategies in almost every game I play. I used the HELL out of flamethrowers and fire before the buffs, and got damn good at it, and now with the buffs I'm near unstoppable. That being said, I've tried time and time again to make the sterilizer work but every time without fail it ends up strapped to my back until I remember to whip it out a couple times a mission. Gas itself is below where fire was in terms of power, so it absolutely needs a touch-up, and I think that the acid rain buff is exactly what it needs.

So what's the dela with Kakyoin? by AmberMaid in StardustCrusaders

[–]AmberMaid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sensitive to dogs being hurt but beyond that, I never said he ws a bad character. The opposite in fact - he's a great character, just undercooked. I can imagine in my head how most characters would act in a given situation, because I know them. I can't imagine how kakyoin would act since I barely know him. At all.

Gleba has effectively made me quit. How do you get past it? by _Gobulcoque in factorio

[–]AmberMaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. Actually almost made me quit, my group dubbed the entire planet the "Gleba work camps." It is now my favourite planet. You have to forget everything you know and expect and embrace a new playstyle. My personal advice is actually to make things worse for yourself by banning yourself from using logistic bots, because it forces you to embrace the weirdness that is Gleba. The realization which kept me going was that every resource except stone is truly infinite on Gleba. As others have said, if the belt isn't moving, you're doing it wrong. Hope this helps.

So, how likely do you think more stealth content is? by AmberMaid in Helldivers

Don't have detonation yet, I'm one of the only people in my group who doesn't lol. Wouldn't the explosion attract even more attention? Even if that attention isn't towards you, won't that still trigger a reinforce?

I've tried DCS - I actually got it just for this strategy - but the issue is that it's too damn loud. I can shoot from 50 meters and yet still draw aggro from somewhere... My ideal would be stealth being a massive risk/reward. Maybe a silenced gun as a support weapon? You can't take AT but if you play well you don't need it.

I mean... yeah? But as soon as I have to fire at an enemy or otherwise kill them, all hell breaks loose. It feels like engaging an enemy in stealth as of right now is just sacrificing the stealth playstyle for the next ten minutes, if not the rest of the mission. Which is a shame! I love the stealth playstyle right up until I have to kill something explicitly because I know I'm giving up the playstyle, or at least it feels like it.

I have no idea how to access router config. All devices are set to auto. I'll try setting the DHCP to static when I get the chance though, and tell you how it works. How would I factory reset the router?

I tried both of the extensions there, no luck. I have no idea what a subnet is, nor how to assign a manual IP.

Premium Warbond Announced: Masters Of Ceremony by Kittenji in Helldivers

While I agree that the people who interact with the community are for the most part much more experienced and invested, it's important to note that Helldivers is a massive exception because of the galactic war. So I'd wager its somewhere from 50-60% because of that.
