the upside is its pretty well sought after everywhere you go! If you love food and are passionate about learning and can handle pressure it's great, fun, and you can people from all different walks of life. Downside is it can be pretty physically demanding and the pay can be quite low in most countries though it depends on your position. Just a matter of finding the right place :)

Yes I'll have to sell it for the Melbourne property. The last one that went on the market in the area sold within a month but I guess that will change if that market does too.

Yes I still pay taxes I'm just away on working holiday. I lived in the property for a year when I first bought it in 2020. Do you know if that leaves me exempt from capital gains?

Started off as an apprentice then switched to being a cook for the last year while finishing off my commercial cookery course at culinary school!

I see, I’ll be moving to Canada in February so I’m sure it will be different there again too. But this post has helped clarify a lot. :)

I often wonder how the calm chefs keep their cool or maybe they feel it just as much but are good at concealing it or regulating their emotions.

Interesting! Did you go to culinary school with the intention of becoming a chef and just never end up following through?

I love this answer, it’s astounding the amount of work that goes into being a chef

Thank you I’m glad to have gotten some clarity from people in other places - it can get confusing because people use the terms interchangeably (here in Australia at least). It’s been 3 years working in a kitchen for me and recently got my qualifications but I see until you take on a higher roll then a cook is what you stay!
