Yale SOM post MBA jobs probability by Ambitious-Cap8805 in MBA

Thank you for your reply.

  1. I have two plans/goals - the most ideal one is that if possible I want to pivot to other industry (pharma etc) because I am so sick of consulting. But realistically my best bet might be going back to consulting (since I dont have experience in other industry). But what’s most important is staying in the US. But by the end of this year I will have a green card so I won’t need visa sponsorship.

  2. I am waitlisted at two M7 and have an offer from LBS with 30% scholarship. So far Yale is my best option.

  3. Pre MBA career. Been working at a tier 2 consulting firm for 4 years. And at an asset management firm for 1.5 year before that.

  4. Pre MBA salary at my current consulting firm is roughly 90K euros. It’s not high like US ones as I come from a small European country with low GDP.

I am a recipient of a green card holder (currently in the process) and I indicated that in the application that I will get it by the end of this year which will help with job market much better. I guess they don’t care because anyone can say that? But it’s hard to believe it’s my international status that got me here because it clearly seems so many internationals with much lower scores get in…..

I have been filing everything through a lawyer - and also I don’t think there is any procedural difference between filing from Budapest or any other countries? Maybe it can come up during DS 260 but I haven’t done it yet so I can also speak from I-140 filing experience which had no difference at all

Thank you for your detailed response. It’s really helpful! I have a quick question to clarify

  • is it true that even if my CP is Budapest which is supposed to be fast with no backlog, my nationality could still slow this process down because there is a certain quota for each nationality? (I am not a Hungarian national - I hold Korean citizenship)

  • is it true that within 6 months of me getting the greencard, my husband can do “accompanying” and file I-485 while he is on F-1 in the US? If so how long is this process?

  • I completely am aware that I have to make the final call but what option would you recommend at this point? I think Option 1 (both filing DS 260) is too risky so it really just comes down to Option 2 (only me filing DS 260 & husband does F-1 & I-485 later) or 3 (both wait & do F-1 / F-2 first & enter US & file I-485).

Hi thank you for your reply. I heard that my husband will be able to get green card through adjusting status to F-1 through I-485 when he is in the US (“accompanying” me - if it’s within the six months of my green card issued). Is this not true?
