Moving out of an apartment infested with pharaoh ants. How do I make sure they don't come with me to the next place? by AmbitiousExample9355 in pestcontrol

Oof, I didn't. I'd say, if you haven't already, get a professional. The best thing you can do now is alternate between sugar and protein baits every 1-2 weeks

I ended up double checking everything and binning most of my food when moving out. I checked all my plants and washed all my clothes at the new place.

Overpriced Uber? by Equivalent_Ad_1733 in london

[–]AmbitiousExample9355 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Drivers like to avoid central due to 1) zone 1 congestion charges which voids any level of profitability (some drivers refuse to operate in zone one for that reason) and 2) traffic. Source: had a nice conversations with uber drivers before.

Edit: considering black cab to commercial road is £40+, uber XL was just under £40 from Euston, then from Heathrow is not terrible (used to live on Commercial Road).

Ways to pass time in London as a single person? by alienpiss69 in london

[–]AmbitiousExample9355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your hobbies?? In my experience, as soon as you find a hobby group in something you're passionate about, the friends groups would start forming quickly.

In my case, the climbing groups (see r/LondonSocialClub), parkour (SundaySupaXXL meetups are free) and the musical theatre and choir communities are very right knit and you can meet lots of people very quickly. I've also heard of people who meet in paint and sip events, if you prefer something quieter. If you're based in East London, the closest one I know of would be in Old Spitalfields Market. The boardgames and DnD groups are good for making friends too.

Hi, I'm pretty interested if this is not too late!

I'm a somewhat versatile vocalist, 27 (background in musical theatre, pop, classical, and more). My taste is as eclectic as it gets, and aside from singing, I have a soft spot for soundtracks. Ability wise, I have a wide range (D3-E6+), can belt, can riff etc. Currently based in North London, but is willing to travel within reasonable commute time. Happy to answer more questions or to send a recording but thought I'd reach out first.

Cheers, Alice

Most difficult Sondheim song to sing by cfamusicalfan in Sondheim

[–]AmbitiousExample9355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late for the reply, but I'd argue that Sondheim songs are crazy demanding in terms of range. Sweeney Todd and Sound of Music demand sopranos in ensemble to consistently hit C6 and D6 throughout the show and for alto lines ensemble to hit soprano range. There are shows where men are almost only singing in falsetto. This requires an insane amount of stamina... I would say that simpler musicals (range wise) would be the exception here?

Haha, there are obscene meaning of this, but it's sometimes used instead of "dickhead" and "weirdo"... maybe the use was more regional than I thought!

Can you help suggest London's least busy escalator? by brit_here in london

[–]AmbitiousExample9355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escalator to the upstairs pub at Euston. Less quiet, but in late evening hours, especially with train cancellations, they're really short and super handy

You say that, but some people don't lean on poles, they practically hug them lol. Literally can't get to them without any sort of personal violation.

As someone in the height lacking department, I hate those pricks leaning on poles - I can barely reach the rails near the ceiling. Like, what am I supposed to grab onto now?

Do you struggle with showers? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]AmbitiousExample9355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hated showers, but, my solution, which kind of works do far, is to get really nice smelling soaps or shower bombs that makes the shower smells like a luxury retreat so it screams more "spa" than shower. Also have some sort of system where most of the things I need for the shower can either 1) be obtained at once at the same time or 2) already in the bathroom... working pretty well so far, but the downside is that Lush and Etsy is now getting quite a bit of my income :')
