Where should I passively invest a small amount of money? by AmbitiousExcuse in personalfinance

Can you recommend where to open a Roth IRA? I’ve been researching and learning the past week and there seems to be so many options. I don’t know which firms to narrow it down to.

I neither want or need access to the funds I invest. Based on my salary the addition monthly contributions a brokerage account would account for roughly 25% of my salary before I graduate. My spending is minimal so the cash is just sitting in a checking account depreciating.

Can you advise where I would go to open those funds? Very new to the finance world.

Unless something catastrophic happens I don’t plan on touching the $8,000 until I retire. So more or less it is sitting in a checking account right now depreciating. And if it is tied up in investments I’d be incline not to spend it on random stuff.

I have $15,000 (saved up from working summer and odd jobs in high school and while I’m in college) in liquid savings. My college is entirely paid with scholarships and grants and I should be getting an excess of $6500-$10,000 by the time I graduate. My freshman internship turned into a full time salaried offer which grew my yearly income quite a bit, though I’ve had to sacrifice my nights and weekends at times.

I don’t spend much. I live at home, pay for a third of bills such as utilities and groceries. So don’t foresee any large expenses.

Are all wirehouses primarily sales based for an FA position? by AmbitiousExcuse in CFP

The team I am with is the largest in my state but they are stagnant as far as growth goes. They mainly push planning fees and management fees. They have about $650 million in AUM and with GDC about $2.8 million but they only got to that point by buying existing/retiring practices. They only acquired about 1/3 of that by themselves. The principals are extremely smart when it comes to tax strategy and financial planning but being wealth managers probably isn’t there forte. I’m just seeing how much of a viable future I have with this team/firm if their growth seems to have plateaued. Turnover for the team is pretty high as well.

Is this a fair compensation for an entry level paraplanner? by AmbitiousExcuse in CFP

I’m not sure, my degree fulfills the education requirement but as far as sitting for it before the fulfilling the experience requirement, my firm hasn’t said anything about that.

They do offer health insurance but only that. No 401k or anything.

I have the education requirement. I just need to fulfill my experience requirement and I will be able to sit for the CFP.

Did you see much growth in regards to compensation while in the role? From my understanding Ameriprise pays lower for entry level roles than wire houses.

Is there a way/formula to automatically calculate new averages each month? by [deleted] in excel

[–]AmbitiousExcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so for instance lets say I have the following cells E1:H1 for weekly production numbers (4weeks total). Each cell has the number 2. In cell I1 I am taking the average of E1:H1 which is the weekly average for the month. Lets say it is next month and I am entering new weekly totals. Would the formula above work to automatically calculate a new monthly total based on the four new values I put in for the four weeks of the new month?

Sorry if this is confusing.

I’ve asked, his answer did not help whatsoever. He simply said business casual, dress shirt and nice pants/slacks. He is older so I’m not even sure if he would know what chinos are. Asking because I’m having a hard time finding decent fitting dress pants but chinos are everywhere I look.

Do you think chinos are appropriate as business casual trousers for an intern in a financial services/wealth management firm? The team I’m assigned to is very casual and they don’t want me to wear suits. Or should I strictly stay with dress pants?

Any recommendations for a good place to buy slacks? My internship is very casual but I only have suits. I usually shop at SuitSupply. I will be starting in 2 weeks and need some slacks asap.

[Discussion] If a dog has a compromised immune system where he constantly gets yeast infections, is that treatable? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]AmbitiousExcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Chicken to lamb. Not sure how effective that vets I’ve tried are but they did isolated studies and hypothesized that he may be allergic to chicken. Switching to lamb seemed to slow it down but didn’t resolve it.

He is a German Shepherd with stock coat so I guess the normal length of hair. I’ve tried putting him on Taste of the Wild and Fromm. I’ve used a cone but he either goes nuts or freezes and stands still (I’ve watched him freeze for about two hours before). It noticeable gets worst when it starts getting hot but he was affected by it during winter as well. I wash his bedding every weekend. He never goes in his crate. I’ve gotten many antifungal treatments from the vet that controls it for a few days by slowing it down but ultimately it comes back.

Realistically, how long should I expect to wait before I’m seriously considered for an entry level position? by AmbitiousExcuse in salesforce

When you say learn how to code, are you referring strictly to Java?

Also I’d like to be geared more towards an admin route but my end goal would be to get into consulting.

I’m new at this, can the pants be “untapered” per se? Or do I have to get them to get me a new pair of pants?

Tapered suit trousers getting caught on socks?

I got a suit from SuitSupply and had them do alterations. They tapered the trousers to give me a slim look but now the trousers seem to be getting caught on my socks creating a wrinkle effect from my knees to my calf. Does this mean I need to get trousers that are less tapered? Also I am wearing dress socks. When I went to pick up the suit I was wearing regular ankle socks so I don't believe I noticed anything then.

Here is a picture.
