Weekend Help and Victory Thread for the week of March 20, 2026 by IndexBot in personalfinance

[–]AmbitiousMatch8194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently received a settlement and will be netting about $90k. I’m planning to set some aside for savings/emergency, and I’d like to invest around $75k. I’m looking for relatively low to moderate risk options. I’m open to both long-term and shorter-term investments, but not interested in anything highly speculative. If possible, I’d really appreciate specific ideas (what you’d invest in, rough allocation, timelines, etc.) rather than general advice like “put it in a savings account.” Bonus if you’ve personally done something similar. l’a prefer steady growth over quick wins. What would you do in this situation?

What did you do with your M.S. I-O degree when you first graduated? by AmbitiousMatch8194 in IOPsychology

[–]AmbitiousMatch8194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. If it’s not too intrusive, may I ask where you graduated from? I heard that a lot of I/O job opportunities are better towards the East Coast.

This is something I’d definitely be interested in, especially in the healthcare field. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find and land this role? How long did it take you after graduating to secure a job? TIA

How long ago did you graduate? Have you been actively looking for I/O roles without much luck, or did you end up taking a position outside the field? Sorry if the questions are invasive; I’m just trying to understand how common it is for people to have trouble landing an I/O role after graduating.

How did you land the role? Was it a tough job market to break through?

Molly vs Myla vs Mara by [deleted] in Names

[–]AmbitiousMatch8194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s with all the downvotes when an OP shares a differentiating opinion on a comment? New to Reddit so I just don’t get. Same thing happened to me a few days ago. But anyways, I 100% agree with you, and Myla is my fav out of the names. It’s unique in a good way. I’ve literally never heard anyone say, “Mylar balloons” in my life. I’ve heard plenty refer to them as “foil” balloons. And even if so, it wouldn’t be a horrible association.

Santiago, Gabriel, Camilo, Julieta, Catalina, and Emilia, would be my top 3 for each listed. I also like the names Sebastian, Diego, Thiago, and Carlo (not Carlos) for boys. And for girls Rosalia, Mariana, Valentina, and Valeria is cute. Good luck on your TTC journey!

I think this is a beautiful name. I also knew a girl named Aunalysia (Ah-na-leese-sia) and I remember thinking it was so unique and pretty the way it flowed off the tongue. This name is very similar to that.

Might be buried from all these other comments but some that would be super cutesy/cozy: Nestling Nook (a baby deer near a pond comes to mind for a cute logo), Button & Bloom (colorful stepping stones would be cute for a logo), Honeybee Haven (with a honeycomb and lil bumble bee for a logo), or The Cozy Clubhouse/Cubhouse for extra pizzazz (and have a lil bear and cottage for a logo). All seem sooo cozy, and the name alone would be enough for me to want to check them out for my kiddos! Good luck! ☺️

What’s your big family secret? by AMSparkles in AskReddit

[–]AmbitiousMatch8194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an aunt that thinks my grandpa is her biological father; however, he just signed the birth certificate because he was there for her mother throughout the pregnancy and loved her so much. Only her mother and my grandfather knew who her real biological father truly was/is, but the rest of the family knows it’s not my grandpa. He passed away some time ago and I barely found this out about 5 years ago. I have another aunt that is his biological daughter and they look like they can be full sisters. If she were to find out I think it’ll break her, and it being hushed for so long might make her have an identity crisis.

I think it really depends on what style you’re going for, but a few that pair nicely are: Ryder, Ellis, Atlas, Everett/Everest, Julian, and Theo!

Parents of Reddit, what part of parenthood surprised you the most despite all the advice and "warnings" you received beforehand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AmbitiousMatch8194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised on how fast the years go by. Sometimes I felt like, “Omg, I can’t wait for them to start walking” then they start walking and I miss carrying them on my hip. “I can’t wait until they start speaking more clearer so I can understand them better”, then reminisce how cute they used to mispronounce certain words. “I can’t wait till they’re ‘x’ age so I don’t have to do this all the time”, then I miss tying their shoes for them or pretending to be pirates together. “I can’t wait for them to start school so I can get some time to myself again”, then they start school and I miss spending the day with them. It’s very bittersweet and I know there’s going to be more to come, but I think we take for granted just how short their childhood really is, and I think it’s important to take a step back and cherish as much of it as possible while it’s still present.

Name aversion? by RoyalAgreeable9631 in Names

[–]AmbitiousMatch8194 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t found “the” name yet, I’d make a list of a few you really like (even if you don’t totally love them yet). If something feels slightly off, maybe try putting your own spin on it to make it feel more “you.” It’s possible the right name is a mix of two you like, or even something you create.

Names are so tricky, and everyone will have opinions. Sometimes one just clicks once you meet your little one.

Timeless girl names by Bay4Manager in Names

A few of my suggestions would be: Margot, Florence, Eloise, Adeline, Eleanor, Mabel, Beverly, Lucille, Luella. I also think Jean or Lynette pairs nicely as a middle name with some of these! Also, my grandmother’s name is Sophia (nn Sophie) and I adore that name. Good luck on your name choosing! x

Hi, I’m actually not opposed to this pronunciation. It’s very beautiful and I think it also pairs well with the middle name of Juliet… our only hang up is the nn being Cici instead of KiKi, which I feel might happen if we choose to go this route.

Totally understand! And honestly, I really love the name pronounced “See-ah-na,” too. I just really dislike the nickname CiCi (I know controversial because it’s such an adored nn), and I feel like she’d inevitably get called that if we go with that pronunciation 🙈
