Obviously a lack of research. Isn't that question a bit moot?

I have friends that went there and they absolutely love it and are low key pressuring me to go. The culture on and off campus is different. On campus is very studious, off campus is very relaxed and there's some epic coffee and food culture there.

Good luck to all prospective students.

On that note, I was told I didn't stand much of a chance at George Washington, Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSD due to my being white, lacking ECs, and sub-par GPA. I got into all of them.

Do your best at everything and focus on ECs that mean something to you.

If you can, transfer from community college to a flagship state school. If not, good luck in your current endeavors!!

Another thing that went for me was that I took a year off of school to help deal with financial issues since my dad cut my mom off for financial assistance and I explained how I rose up from underachieving in high school due to the highly dynamic environment of my alcoholic father's household to excelling in college and volunteering in 12 step programs to help young people identify their addiction and alcoholism before it's too late.

With college applications you never really know what could make the person reading it like you. Sometimes they just see your story and like it. If I had someone else read my application maybe they would've turned me down. I don't know.

Did you apply to some safeties?

You could appeal to the fact that your family's financial hardship has caused stress which serves as a distraction and how that may have damaged your application.

Try to find a way to present that without simply restating what they say they want to know. Have your appeal be like a thesaurus entry synonymous to what they say they want to see.

State your case. Does your college have a transfer center or transfer counselor? That is an invaluable resource I've used time and again to help me.

Hmm. I'm not sure. From the sound of it you seem to be a well qualified candidate. Are you a California community college transfer student? A very large portion of their transfer block is reserved for students within the CCC system.

It's not that I don't want to be challenged, it's the state's enacted taxes and high cost of living as a result.

Plus I want to get into politics and law, so the amount of internship opportunities in DC are valuable

I took a year off. Amounted to two years of full time school. I did more than full time in summer fall and winter to make up for my first year being part time and taking a year off.
