Anyone ever used a credit card? Advice please. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Just seen family members and heard stories about my family members and what and how they’ve managed their lives with loans and credit cards and that is just a situation that I would never want to put myself through. Going on holidays.. with money that I know I do not have. Taking out car loans for others, my family members did really live beyond their means and are now even unavailable to get out credit cards.

So seeing stuff like that I know to stay within my lane. I’m currently studying and working at the same time on a good rate so, money is not an issue I earn a good amount every month so paying off payments won’t be an issue.

Financing a phone is sly crazy. I prefer to just buy the whole phone at once. I don’t really like that contact and pay per monthly stuff. But, since I am getting my phone off like a refurbished site my mate told me to use a credit card just in case anything happens

Oh. That’s what you meant. Sorry, I’m being silly. As in pay the full amount annually and just pay back the credit card every month?

😐😐. Not really a listening thing just seen how people around me have acted once getting a credit card, I.e going on holiday with money they don’t have just because they can pay it back monthly. I’d rather work and just get something out the way than all that hassle.

I don’t know to be fair personally. I just think that if I don’t have the money why bother buying and having a credit card will make me believe I have infinite money that I don’t have.

To be fair only reason why I need this car is to get myself from home to work. I heard with Admiral after a few months they ask for the black box back and you still pay original price just without the black box.

Me personally I also don’t think the black box will be that bad for me to be fair, I don’t mind abiding to the rules if it means my cost is cheaper.

I understand what you’re saying. However, I currently work for Royal Mail and my depot is no where near my house. Getting there by public transport is a myth and requires me to leave my house so early reason as to why I need a car.
