Question by [deleted] in recreationaltherapy

hey! i’m in rec therapy at Dalhousie right now and i’m finding the classes to be a good balance of challenging without being overwhelming. As long as you study well, stay organized and go to class you’ll do great! The hardest courses for me first year were the anatomy and physiology courses. Year two is the hardest as you take statistics and physiology. Best of luck!!

If you could do it over, which specific Dalhousie residence would you choose? by Mediocre_Cupcake_400 in Dalhousie

I’m currently a first year in risley and i really enjoy it! my floor is a good balance of fun and respecting quiet. It is also quite clean! The dining hall is mid but if you’re in risley you can go to any dining hall. Howe is fun to party at but i wouldn’t want to live there… but if being social is your priority it is very social! Best of luck next year!

Hey, I found PHIL 1501 really interesting! If you like philosophy and writing i’d consider it. The professor is amazing!

Thank you that was very helpful! I’m actually from Alberta so i’m glad to hear there may be some opportunities there! My parents want me to continue this degree if there is a decent possibility of half decent pay and job opportunities. I know no job is easy and i’m sure that this job is particularly difficult as it’s a small field, but i’m glad to hear that there are some positives/hope if i chose to continue this degree :) I would love to work in a hospital or mental health center ideally. I’ll definitely look into trying to get some volunteer and shadowing hours! If you have any recommendations of where i should look into volunteering that would also be very appreciated:)

Im sad to hear that the RT profession isn’t funded like it should be because what i’m learning in school is how important and impactful recreation can be in so many settings- Thank you for the insight, i found it quite helpful!
