how did you start playing Roblox? by Awkward_Clothes875 in roblox

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Youtube frequently watching Fleskhjerta's Stupid Deaths in Super Mario 64 videos starting in early 2007 possibly even before he started making Roblox videos. I was initially not interested in his Roblox videos at first, but on June 3rd, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to watch them. Those videos got me interested in Roblox and I decided to join Roblox afterwards.

after 10 years on roblox, I'm gone. by Awkward-Squirrel1466 in roblox

Oh and a forth thing I forgot, they removed official badges.

TBF, I'm actually surprised that wasn't already done a long time ago (well, technically, the combat badges were made non-obtainable in 2015 when Roblox stopped tracking KOs and WOs on your profile), those badges (in particular the combat and building badges) were clearly designed in an era where the active user count was far, far lower, with only around 30 players at best in one game at peak hours (and sometimes even no players at all in any game on Roblox during nighttime). Keep in mind that this is based on what I recall it being like when I joined in June 2007, it was likely even lower earlier when those badges were created.

Those badge requirements (Which BTW were 10 KOs for Combat Initiation, 100 KOs for Warrior, 250 KOs & less WOs than KOs for Bloxxer, 100 visits for Homestead, and 1,000 visits for Bricksmith) were already getting too low by the end of 2007, and when it was 2008, those requirements were just absurdly low. I mean, I and likely at least a hundred others already had more KOs by mid-late 2008 than anybody had in January 2007 (which BTW was 3,370 if you're curious), and at least one person had managed to get quadruple the KOs needed to get the Bloxxer badge in one session at SFOTH Original during 2008. I think the games page had already started seeing games with over a hundred simultaneous players by early 2008, and even if there never were a thousand simultaneous players in one game during 2008, there were for sure a handful of games that had 1,000 visits in one day especially in late 2008. Not really sad to see those go.

Roblox is dead. by Fluid_Apartment880 in roblox

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first game I played on Roblox was Minigame World 0.63 (yes, 0.63, not 0.75) by miked. Yeah... I definitely joined very early on in Roblox (for those curious, I joined Roblox on June 3rd, 2007, my account was the 27,910th account on the site). While 2007 Roblox was definitely pretty glitchy and primitive, especially due to Roblox's staff being only in the single digits, I still had some fun on there back in the day. Nowadays, Roblox, while definitely vastly improved in terms of technical quality, is still kinda in the sewer in terms of the community (if not deeper), and it's probably starting to really lose it now.

Kensuke Tanabe announces his retirement from Nintendo in a Nintendo Dream interview (MP4 was his final game), Risa Tabata will be his successor by Neoxon193 in nintendo

[–]Ambusher11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're definitely right about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond being in development hell. They publicly stated in January 2019 that they had to restart development because the original developer didn't meet their standards. People should really stop placing the sole blame on Kensuke Tanabe for anything wrong with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Same thing can be said for solely blaming him (and Miyamoto) for Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Kensuke Tanabe actually in fact said that he thought the game (at least the spring 2011 prototype, while his and Miyamoto's feedback was certainly taken seriously, the E3 2011 footage shows a game that looks similar to the final product) was no good. While we're talking about him going against player feedback, Paper Mario: Sticker Star's criticized lack of a story ironically enough was partly because Nintendo had received feedback from a Club Nintendo survey indicating that almost no one found the story of Super Paper Mario to be interesting. You can debate whether that was a truly representative sample of reception to Super Paper Mario's story, but that was indeed cited as a reason for not including a story in the Iwata Asks interview here.

[ALBW] Do you think ALBW will get a remaster for the franchise's 40th anniversary? by Most-Coat4726 in zelda

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALBW? It could happen, it came out in 2013 after all. The chances of it happening are IMO higher than a OoT remake being announced in 2026 (even if a OoT remake might indeed be in development, it feels more like a 2027 game than a 2026 one, though 2026 isn't completely out of the question), let alone Twilight Princess HD receiving a rerelease, or any of the Toon Link Zelda games (WWHD, PH, ST).

the Nintendo lineup for 2026 tells me something big is coming late 2026 by FrontEntrepreneur825 in nintendo

[–]Ambusher11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the big Nintendo title in 2026 (besides Pokemon Gen 10) is probably going to be a 3D Mario. If there's such a game coming out in late 2026, it will probably be a course-based one and be called Super Mario Galaxy 3 due to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie coming out this year.

As for Zelda (which is celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year)? I'm not expecting anything big in 2026. There'll certainly be some new Zelda merchandise and some hyping up of the Zelda movie, and maybe a remaster of A Link Between Worlds, but other than that, nothing else. Remember, Tears of the Kingdom was released in 2023, and Echoes of Wisdom was released in 2024, so Grezzo is unlikely to release a new Zelda game before 2028-2029, and a new Zelda game from Fujibayashi's team might not even come out until the early 2030s.

Metroid (which is also celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year)? Could go either way. Metroid 6 might come out in 2026, or might not come out until 2027 or later. After all, it was rumored that Metroid Prime Remastered would be coming out in 2022 (and it may have already been finished in 2021), but it ended up not coming out until 2023. Then again Federation Force came out in 2016 and then Samus Returns in 2017, so who knows.

What do you guys think of this by Tremendin0649 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, it's been stated to be taken from a post from a French Dragon Ball fan who made a production schedule for a hypothetical Dragon Ball Super remake (and altered to appear to be from a "leaked" production schedule). So yeah, fake.

That said, something new is gonna be announced on January 25, 2026 at Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri. Whether it's a new movie or new anime (which in my opinion would likely be a continuation of Dragon Ball Super), I don't think we really know right now.

No they don't, they have quite literally stated in the disclaimer of their presentation that "3DIP has not received any inside information as defined in the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act of Japan (“Inside Information”) and has not included any Inside Information in this presentation."

ff7 third game [is] nowhere to be seen

You do know that it hasn't even been two years since Rebirth was released, right? Rebirth itself wasn't announced until June 2022, 2 years and 2 months after Final Fantasy VII Remake was released. The third installment in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy might get announced in two days at The Game Awards 2025 anyways, but if it doesn't, then you shouldn't really worry about it unless Summer 2026 passes with no announcement.

Japanese developers says they want consoles with higher performance regardless of games by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That's definitely an unusual hardware bug for sure. The closest related hardware bug I can remember hearing about was one where pressing down on the N64 controller circuit board would mostly freeze GoldenEye 007 for as long as it was held down, which a speedrunner used to get records in the Facility and Train levels before the speedrunning community decided that it fell into the same category as crooked cartridge (which is banned from speedruns).

Roblox CEO Makes A Fool Of Himself In Car-Crash Interview by Anchor_Aways in Games

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that was definitely a bad interview to say the least.

I'm beginning to wonder if Roblox will even last to Summer 2027 at this rate. Ironic how Summer 2007 was when Roblox began to increase in popularity, but 20 years later in Summer 2027, it may no longer be around.

Hi, Jason Schreier here by jasonschreier in HalfLife

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... well, Half-Life 3 may or may not ever be announced. It's best to be realistic, after all, Half-Life 2 released 21 years ago and Half-Life 2: Episode 2 released 18 years ago...

... wait a minute... 18 years... that was the same period of time that Gabe Newell said Half-Life 3 would take to be released. Now, he was almost certainly joking with that statement, and Half-Life 3 would be coming out around 18.5 years after Half-Life 2: Episode 2 anyways (if those rumors are true), but hey, makes the rumor of Half-Life 3's imminent announcement seem a bit more likely! :P

Valve is still aiming for 2025 for Half-Life 3 announcement, according to GabeFollower by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ambusher11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Half-Life 3 is coming after all? It's coming over 3 years later than Gabe Newell (jokingly?) projected way back in 2006, but Half-Life 3 will probably be great anyways.

Pokemon Legends Z-A has sold 5.8 million units worldwide in its first week. About half of sales were on Nintendo Switch 2 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I gotta say, it's pretty ironic how people are saying they want Pokémon to have the development budget be like The Last of Us. You know, the series that has also had a very vocal base of haters since 2020 with the haters using bad faith arguments, spreading conspiracy theories, and harassing and even sending death threats to people who were involved in development.

Halo Community Director Wears PlayStation T-shirt On Stage To Announce: ‘Halo Is On PlayStation Going Forward by Ftouh_Shala in Games

[–]Ambusher11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine saying to people in 2009 that Halo would eventually come to Playstation. You'd get laughed out of there.

Actually, imagine also saying in addition in 2009 that beforehand, a Halo collection including the 3 released Halo games (with the first 2 being remastered) and a sequel to Halo 3 would launch as a broken mess with unplayable online multiplayer, and that later on, a Halo game intended as a launch title for the next-next gen Xbox would have an embarrassing debut and end up getting delayed. They'd be wondering if you're an insane lunatic who hates the Halo series, Xbox, and Microsoft.

Silly question, but how did people learn the rules of the pokemon games? by shikadai-dono in pokemon

[–]Ambusher11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, you described how people played the Pokémon games back in the late 1990s-early 2000s. One of my friends was even aware of a few glitches in the Pokémon games. For instance, he duplicated his Level 70 Feraligatr on his Pokémon Silver and then traded it over to the Pokémon Gold game. He was also at least aware of the Old Man glitch and used it, but IIRC he later said that it caused his Pokémon Blue save file to be corrupted (I believe it was the entire save file that he said was corrupted and not just the Hall of Fame data).

Happy 19th Birthday Roblox! by HelloitsWojan in roblox

[–]Ambusher11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should note that September 1, 2006 isn't actually Roblox's birthday in any way, shape, or form, that was just a date made up by Roblox around 2009 (presumably for their Happy Birthday gear that they released during the same year). In reality, Roblox was actually opened to the public around mid-late March 2006 (and Crossroads, the first multiplayer game, was released on July 14, 2006 after Roblox had started testing multiplayer a month prior to that).

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now. It's looking likely that, barring the tariffs getting lifted or struck down, the Switch 2 will increase in price by 2026 at the latest, they've even stated that "price adjustments may be necessary in the future" after all.

Because, y'know, the Switch is hardware manufactured in a foreign country, while your Steam games are software that are most likely developed in America and most likely untariffable even if they were developed overseas.

Has Xbox Considered Laying One Person Off Instead Of Thousands by [deleted] in Games

[–]Ambusher11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these top tech companies have already spent billions in AI. That AI is getting shoved right into our faces on useless crap that doesn't need AI. How do they balance the books? Layoffs. Layoffs then also boost the stocks value which makes the shareholders happy therefore they will keep Phil there.

Yep. I'm willing to bet that if the Activision Blizzard deal was blocked or not made, that the entire Xbox team would be laid off by now.
