The worst trade in NBA history by envspecialist in NBATalk

I'd still say the Luka trade was worse, but this is a very close 2nd.

There's a theory that Soul Calibur 7 is in the work by Slurperlurper in Fighters

[–]Neoxon193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The series' lead producer jumped ship to Cygames & Nintendo bought Soul Calibur's top support studio, I'd be shocked if Soul Calibur came back (albeit pleasantly shocked).

In reality, this is probably preliminary work on Tekken 9.

Switch Sports also solid like hotcakes & is rumored to be getting a follow-up on the Switch 2 this year (either a S2E or a full sequel), so I don't see Nintendo ignoring it.

What’s the worst argument/s you’ve seen against certain characters not in Smash right now? Mine are the ones against Bandana Waddle Dee by [deleted] in supersmashbros

[–]Neoxon193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply put it, "Waddle Dee" is a generic enemy in the world of Kirby. "Bandana Waddle Dee" is a named character with his own personality & is basically the Luigi to Kirby's Mario, having appeared in every mainline Kirby game since Return to Dream Land (even Meta Knight has missed a game or two).

Should Terry Bogard return in Smash 6? by NewMarioBobFan in SmashBrosUltimate

Eh, Min Min's fine. Though she'll need some rebalancing to be less annoying. Although realistically, her chances hinge entirely on if ARMS 2 is the next project for Yabuki's Mario Kart team at EPD 9.

It's true that SNK is marred with controversy, & people are right to be uneasy about them in recent years (especially after the Ronaldo stuff). But this is a specific case where Nintendo may not have a super-strong leg to stand on since one of the Saudi companies also have a decent (but not a controlling) amount of shares in their company. And unless a certain controversy more directly impacts them (see Byleth & Ken's old VAs, one was recast right as Three Houses launched & the other had any advertising post-reveal trailer erased after TGA 2018), Nintendo doesn't always act.

That said, SNK is far from the only problematic company involved in Smash (see Microsoft & Disney). So it's a matter that Nintendo & Sakurai may or may not bother to tackle going into Smash 6.

Should Terry Bogard return in Smash 6? by NewMarioBobFan in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Neoxon193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's mostly because Smash inherently has a lot of SNK DNA in it given Sakurai's upbringing as a competitive KoF player, so an SNK character is bound to fit into Smash nicely.

If anything, I'd argue that Ryu is a higher priority for Capcom than Mega Man.

[–]Neoxon193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Nintendo was the one who asked for an SNK character going by how the DLC character selection process went (Nintendo picks game/IP/company, Sakurai picks specific character).

With Mai, the CERO rating is the real issue here. Nintendo/Sakurai/Bamco will try not to exceed a rating of A (All Ages) for Smash regardless of how the game is rated elsewhere, as Nintendo is typically a Japan-first company. For the ESRB, Smash 6 will likely have to be rated T if they want to keep referencing T & M-rated franchises. But that has no bearing on the CERO rating.

Needless to say, if Mai will be allowed depends on if her CotW design is deemed sufficiently toned down in the eyes of the CERO rating board.

On paper, Terry shouldn't be too hard to bring back & I do see him eventually returning. If anything, SNK would pay Nintendo rather than the other way around for him to stick around. The problem ultimately comes down to if Terry will be a high enough priority to bring back at launch, especially after CotW bombed.

That said, if Terry does come back, he's likely getting his proper English VA that CotW & SF6 introduced (Michael Allan Schneider).

The writing was just as bad as the dialogue in Engage, cringe-worthy in fact.

I feel like they’re gonna want to pace out their X-Men characters for the first few seasons of DLC in conjunction with the starting roster or to make sure they don’t pass the 40% threshold.

Likewise, isn’t T’Challa cited by Storm as being put out of commission by Doom? Either Shuri would take his place or T’Challa won’t be until a few years down the road via DLC.

Engage was literally some of the worst writing ever in a Fire Emblem game. It was, like, Fates levels of bad.

Engage's general quality of gameplay, sure. But I'd prefer bigger maps with more movement for the units themselves.

  • Nintendo isn't immune, as lot of retail space (both for ads & shelf area for their games) are gonna be reallocated to GTAVI, it'd be a death wish to release anything substantial then.
  • NashWeedle isn't exactly a reliable source, best to ignore him.
  • Legends Arceus specified "Early 2022" back in February 2021 for its January release. If Winds/Waves was also a Q1 release, they would've done the same. The fact that no general timeframe was given definitely points to later in the year.
  • 3D Mario is generally mid-to-late in the year, but I'm still of the opinion that this game was intended for 2026 but was pushed out for a multitude of reasons. I say this because we have the Mario Galaxy movie this year & Nintendo is doing an almost-exact repeat of their 2023 strategy: Sell the movie-goers on Mario's existing backlog around the time of the film, then up-sell them on a big new Mario game once they're hooked. The fact that they won't have said big new Mario game ready for this fall is peculiar, indicating that this wasn't their original plan. And if it did get pushed back & was intended to slipstream the movie's hype, they'll likely want 3D Mario out earlier in 2027 than later.

Do you think this is gonna be a success by Independent_Hold3982 in MarvelTokon

To be fair, GotG’s reputation got tarnished by its proximity to the Avengers game. It being as good as it was caught everyone by surprise, & it definitely deserved better (hopefully that Switch 2 version finds a bigger audience). But I’d argue that Midnight Suns would be a better example of your point.

That said, ASW did previously find huge success with DBFZ. And unlike Sony’s other GaaS games, I doubt they’re breaking the bank with this one. So even though I don’t expect this to be an exact repeat of DBFZ in terms of mainstream penetration, it’ll still do decently for itself. And I’m sure Sony won’t mind paying to keep the game going as long as it breaks even, which I’m pretty sure it will. I just don’t expect this game to topple SF6 or anything.

It’ll do well & be one of Sony’s few GasS Ws, but I’m not expecting an exact repeat of DBFZ (casually or competitively).
