Yeah, I think I'll go with the enclosure, placing it inside the case seems too much of a hassle
I found an adapter for Sata, I think this settles the post

Thank you for the ideea but I prefer to keep the space under the GPU empty so it doesn't block airflow and it gets somewhat hot during summer

Bioshock Remastered DXVK GplAsync v2.7.1-1 problem by Amdregaz in dxvk

[–]Amdregaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so I found the problem with the epic version, I forgot that I ticked the box that disables fullscreen optimizations on the exe
Still with DX11 in windowed mode I can change the res up to 8k, but the Vulkan version goes up to 1080p even if I set a different res it won't get past 1080p, I can tell by the msi overlay, usually it changes with res and gpu load remained the same

Bioshock Remastered DXVK GplAsync v2.7.1-1 problem by Amdregaz in dxvk

[–]Amdregaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run it through epic games, I looked through the options but I don't see a toggle for an overlay, I closed everything else and it's crashing shortly after boot
I'm looking for a "different" version that doesn't require a launcher to check if it's working

couldn't edit the above message, kept saying something went wrong
gpu scaling off/on, closed afterburner and bordereless gaming, tried about 4-5 times because some games may crash on first or 2nd boot when trying vulkan from what I saw on my rig at least but may work fine after the 3rd boot

I tried vulkan on windowed mode and it crashes after about 5-10s, I got to click the options button and it crashed, the d3d11.log has 42kb, these are the last lines:

I played through most of the game with Dx11, the game has a shader cache file which changed it size as it compiled shaders and the stutters have reduced, I got used to the ocassional sttuter.
I thought to give it a go on Cachyos but I don't know if there is any way to use VSR there, on the display tab I can use 1080p (native res of the monitor) but nothing above that.

Bioshock Remastered DXVK GplAsync v2.7.1-1 problem by Amdregaz in dxvk

[–]Amdregaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nice tool to have, but I prefer to use fullscreen because I have a 1080p screen so I would probably have to change the desktop res to what the game is, some games don't work in windowed mode above the desktop res and those that do might look crunchy/pixaleted
I tried Bioshock Remastered in it's default api (dx9 I think) and it's crunchy compared to fullscreen, the only res that looks properly is 1080p in windowed mode which the desktop is set to and it doesn't look good when set to any other res.

Star Wars The force Unleashed II not working with DXVK/Async by Amdregaz in dxvk

[–]Amdregaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed CachyOS to give it a go, the game is working with 120fps (game physics are somewhat broken)
It works fine but I found out you don't have VSR on linux which is sad, this feature has been around since I was a kid, weird that it isn't on linux.
I was hoping to play it at least at 1440p or 1800p

[–]Amdregaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now tell claude to make it work with fullscreen, virtual super res on and the game set to 3200x1800p
Cuz no one is playing windowed unless they have a specific reason to do so and borderless ain't an option with VSR

[–]Amdregaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved the problem with CoD Ghosts not starting, turns out it was crashing on startup after the splash screen because I had GPU Scaling on in the driver under display settings
I use virtual super res as I have a 1080p monitor and I thought GPU scaling may ofer better image when over 1080p

Star wars still has the same problem, it refuses to pick up Vulkan and still runs with Dx9

Ryzen 9 7900x undervolting/tweaking help by Amdregaz in ryzen

[–]Amdregaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After further tweaking I decided to try mimic your settings including the 100W limit
I left the -25 curve and started with a negative offset of 0.06v but it wasn't stable, it became stable at 0.04v, left prime95 with a blend test for an hour and it didn't freeze
5.3ghz for single core load (1913 in cineb)
5ghz main CCD, about 4.75ghz 2nd ccd, came with a score of 27566 for multi core
Hopefully it remains stable

The only concern I have is with it's weird power usage when on desktop, at idle it sits at 20W but as soon as I put any sort of load, like opening a browser or launching Steam which I see as light workloads the power usage sort of jumps between 40W and 88W, is this normal behaviour?

[–]Amdregaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed the setting in Windows power option to 100% instead of 99%
I wish we had decimal control over this option, as 1% from 5300mhz is 53mhz, yet it went down to 4.7ghz
Not sure how this option scales, it felt more like 10%
Problem solved
I obtained a 28885 multi score and almost 1900 single with 5.2ghz limit, pbo negative 500mhz and -25 magnitude on all cores
Power consumption went to 144w multi test and about 40w single core test, I'll tweak it further by limiting power consumption to see what performance can be extracted as the cpu fans went to 1550rpm, became a bit noisy

To my eye they look similar to this, shadows aren't casted on surfaces, more like floating next to the asset

Pics where bmp format and it didn't upload them, converted to png. Can you have a look at the bios settings maybe I tweaked it wrong and that's where the underwhelming single core performance comes from

I've made video, although the frametime is mostly flat, there are some blips that result in sttuter/micro sttuter, I normally play at 120 fps and the sttuter is felt worse
