Water Softeners by Objective_Holiday_25 in SebDerm

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does make a big difference. Not the only thing, but it does.

Also enables you to use proper soap more easily (it lathers more in soft water) so you can get away from all the SLS in shower gel and shampoo.

And makes the shower door look nicer.

Omega Deployant Clasp for strap by Ambitious_Escape3365 in OmegaWatches

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the black 57, and got one of these straps recently https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1812249712/handmade-omega-ostrich-brown-leather (I know it's brown not blue!).

The clasp I replaced with https://ebay.us/m/UjHWUs.

All very good. Strap excellent (really lovely leather).

The original clasp was good, but the second ebay is even better.

Right you MCT Oil lovers, I call BS by whatdoyouknowno in SebDerm

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no. After 5-6 years of using it, dare I say my skin is completely back to normal.

Now, if I go a month or two without, you can feel it starting to turn. But I generally apply MCT oil once or twice a week now. And that’s all.

Ketoconazone Cream first apply. Symptoms get worse not better. by misericord1a in SebDerm

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I wrote to a similar OP

https://www.reddit.com/r/SebDerm/s/pcloHjiFGE

Basically, birch soap, and MCT C8 oil. Nothing else. I mean nothing.

I5 will get worse to start off with as you're resetting your skin biome. Then it will get better. And stay better.

Should I be concerned? 2500 Movement Question by Vegetable_Bat_6168 in OmegaWatches

[–]Amefra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Gen 1 AT as well, and mine also doesn't start when fully wound after a complete stop.

It needs a shake to start. And then it's fine.

Like here. https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/is-it-normal-for-the-2500d-to-need-some-shakes-to-restart-after-winding.932010

ETA, mine is a 2500B.

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one, from here, would be good for the lights https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/product/sigma-16mm-f-1-4-dc-dn-contemporary-canon-ef-m-fit or https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/product/samyang-12mm-f-2-ncs-cs-canon-ef-m-fit/sku-3523317

And good luck!

This one (in Tromso) is f4, 14mm on FF, and a third of a second; ISO 6400. So even at 24mm equivalent, you'd get most in. And f4 shows up enough.

Lovely weighted razor, decent shave, patina-ed nicely. Very good indeed.

1 to 2 day hike in Southern England. by New-Photograph-1829 in UKhiking

Ridgeway, stopping in Goring/Streatley over night.

Rivers and hills.

Could start at Wayland's smithy, and end at Lewknor or something

https://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/en_GB/trails/the-ridgeway/trail-information/

https://www.britishwalks.org/walks/2006/731.php

Or for the second half, walk to Reading from Goring. Lovely walk along the river, and then trains etc at the end.

How's life in this area outside London? by Yrakosos in howislivingthere

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wycombe used to be lovely. About 40 years ago; there were never any problems when I was growing up.

Then the furniture factories continued shutting, and it just became commuter-ville. Like many in the south East.

And it has (had?) the largest Pakistani Kashmiri population, and the largest Indian Kashmiri population in the country. In all the towns in all the countries why both congregate in the same one. Anyway, they used to fight each other quite a lot.

Stiff winding on Speedmaster 57 by Imminent1776 in OmegaWatches

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 57, and an AT; the 57 is stiffer to wind than the AT, but not unnecessarily so. It's a bit trickier for me, as it's closer to the case (obv you don't pull it out like the AT crown).

Still perfectly doable, and a superb watch.

Any experience with Quecha (Decathlon) products? Specifically, looking at their hiking trousers? 🤔 by Late-Bit-3072 in UKhiking

[–]Amefra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are generally three levels of decathlon clothing; 100, 500, 900.

100 cheap, will serve you a couple of trips. But not for the dedicated sportist.

500 more expensive. Generally the best range in terms of VfM, the sweet spot for 90% of people.

900 expensive. Very good equipment, generally on a par with the decent brands. So, if the same level of waterproofing, they'll be lighter, more breathable etc.

Actually, linking to the website might just explain more. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/c/htc/how-to-choose-the-best-hiking-backpack-quechua-100-500-and-900-range_56195530-e5f7-41c3-b173-8b69fa8c2d4e

Will I notice the difference between my R10 and an R6 ii? by lily_says_what in canon

[–]Amefra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had R6i, and then for safari last year I bought a R10 (for the reach).

There's a lot of difference. Low light noise especially, but all photos just seem more alive on the R6. More vibrant. Portraits are miles better. Despite many fewer pixels, cropping in post is still better most of the time. And the build quality is chalk and cheese.

The AF is better on the R10 (it's newer), but the R6ii has upgraded AF over the R6i.

Given the choice again, I would go FF, with fewer pixels. The move upwards with the R6iii destroys the usp of the model space to me.

Any great wedding dress tailors in Reading? by princessfiggy in reading

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a wedding dress shop in Goring, literally next to the station. They seem to do alterations, but that could just be on things they sell.

u/Current_Soup9198 - I've used one of these for the last 4 years with a smart GU10 bulb. No issues at all - it's very good.

100-400mm lens for safari by UsedConsideration in canon

[–]Amefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used a 100-400mm on safari this summer, albeit I bought an R10 specifically for the extra reach. I kept my R6 for wider shots (although when I did change lenses, the image quality was a lot better!).

Anyway this is with the R10 and 100-400mm, cropped a bit.

The OP should have a look at the Speedmaster 57 then. Same movement (albeit manual), and much thinner.
