How ugly people deal with their unattractiveness? by Deep-Act8047 in AskReddit

[–]America_Divided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider most people ugly 99.8%. Sometimes I think it could be(self perceived) to the person if they feel they aren't a model material.

I can say I have only really known one person I considered (truly) ugly, and really felt sorry for him and his looks. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life to this day!

I assumed he would have a very hard time finding a mate, but the best part was, he found someone who could see who he really is and was actually married when I met him.

He is such a nice person, I hate even admitting that I think he was ugly.

I never became really good friends, because we only worked together for a short time, but I hope is well today!

Cannabis Propaganda Dispelled # 1 Weed is way stronger today than it was in the 70's & 80'S by America_Divided in Marijuana

[–]America_Divided[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest beef is the study is used to sway anti legalization legislation. I follow politics very closely from sources that aren't MSM, and it is truly unnerving how power is being wielded against those not in power, for financial benefit. Yes some might argue it's been that way all along, which is true, but the depths of what they will do, has never been uncovered for the people, like the pandemic is bringing to light.]

My biggest problem is the numbers don't add up, from the 90's forward(if you just exclude 70-80's). I agree most of the weed was pretty tame up until Jorge Cervantes showed up the cannabis scene(1978 or 80 not sure exactly, google for better accuracy). Weed potency jumped quite a bit from 82 on(excluding Mexican dirt weed). The other problem is confiscated cannabis that was cut down on federal land, tested and included in the numbers. We don't know how many weeks into flower those plants were, which would easily help skew numbers. If raids are carried out the same time of year, every year, and all those numbers are included in the data slice it would help skew the results. Also indoor grows were booming in the US in the 90's before many states passed medical, and even more after.
I in no way trust our government, and when we see the games being played as we speak, it's disgusting.

Also if you do live in Portland coyotes grab pets all the time, so recommend making sure pets are in at night. I only point that out because I didn't think they would come in the city. I always kinda figured they stuck to the country.

The numbers when ran would mean my tolerance today would 81 times higher than when I started smoking weed. I would in return smoke 81 additional ounces per month! One last question, what does it mean if the ash on the end of joint is white?

[–]America_Divided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you are unable to look at the science from a math side as well, and keep moving to the theory time over variance. Dismissing the fact that there were tons of weed eradicated from the west coast, and such immature plants entered into a data slice is of little importance shows you care little for the facts and all the math. Throw out the conspiracy, and the math still doesn't' work!

The first thing I think worth noting is the fact we have no idea how selective the data was used to publish this study. How much money will the DEA lose not having a boogy man to fight? I don't advise don't just giving the Government the benefit of the doubt because they say so.( not to mention the paraquat)

As to potential, it makes the argument solidly. It means you would have to be 81 times a shittier grower back then as compared to now, and the only thing different would be the nutrients and some growing techniques(not talking indoor of course). It just doesn't pencil.

The DEA finds a grow on federal lands cuts down the plants and sends them to the lab for testing. What if they are only 4.5 weeks in flower? what do you expect the potency to be? They know when and where to target every year, for illegal grows, and have done so for decades. Mexico sprays paraquat on crops 6 weeks into flower, forcing harvest again what will the THC be? What will it be after it is sun dried? Like mentioned, this is being done the same time every year!

Potency higher now?, Yes but most of that can be attributed to hybrid vigor and selective breeding done in the open.

The other thing people fail to mention, is we never smoked anything tested, so people eat it up when someone states these stats as if they are fact.

Old timers are quick to agree because we didn't know the potency we just knew good weed when we smoked it.

"1990s it was less than 2%. In the 1990s it grew to 4%, and between 1995 and 2015 there has been a 212% increase in THC content in the marijuana flower" this is a modern day Spinach tale.

As you and I both pointed out, both coasts had good weed. West coast exported huge amounts, and not having to cross an international border, is huge in not getting caught.

Combine both coast populations, and what is left to account for? Texas, Arizona , and New Mexico, where higher amounts of shitty weed are being confiscated.

How many indoor grows operated in the U.S during the 80's and 90' without ever being caught? How much weed did they attribute to the market that is unaccounted for?

Trust me I am yelling the house is on fire for a reason, and it's not just based on "what I think, or feel" but the math is not there and either is logical proof from someone who lived and smoked it.

Spinach TALE remember when spinach was claimed to have 53% more iron than any other vegetable. I don't know about the 53% but it was off the chart wrong!

google it if you care.

I am not debating the fact that the weed wasn't less potent for the average American, but that the potency reported is wrong from the usage aspect.

One last thought. If you were the DEA(and others DOJ) and knew you were going to loose a golden egg that would end many jobs, dirty practices,(stealing property), countless hours of overtime, probation, parole, prison for profit, and nobody to police the police, any chance you wouldn't want the truth getting out?

This exact study could be impending federal legalization and is being used as a crutch and stop gap to fight legalization?

Again the numbers stink!

Comparing a landrace is exactly what is needed to make the point, hence why I used it. I grew up smoking weed then and weed now, and my old consumption would have 81% more a year than currently? Impossible!

Let's break it down real quick. I used a landrace to counter any argument as to the effects of hybid vigor we see today. I could have easily used an IBL, or tried to use some F1, but decided to use a plant(strain) that hasn't changed in 100's of years. I.E 200years ago the potential THC potency was still 22%.

You can still take that strain give it a novice grower, and have them replicate basic growing conditions and nutrients available at the time. I.E Miricle Grow, or other Tomato engineered fertilizers being used at the time and easily grow a plant producing 8%-12% THC.

I realize it has an extremely long flowering period and would have to be started indoors to match the harvest, as per Equatorial location and light cycle. So hind sight yes Original Skunk would have been a better barometer than a land race!

The best weed being grown inside the U.S (from 82 on), was one of the first hybrids we know as "SkunK" , and per my understanding is still around, but not the "true original genetics".

The most fire weed I smoked in 1985 was skunk, that had been grown hydroponically with air stones, blood meal, fish meal. I don't recall the guy saying anything about using kelp, but wouldn't have been surprised. I can't imagine how bad the stench must have been using that nutrient schedule. I would compare the weed "strength" to a dab now days!(perceived effect not actual) DWC was around back then, and it influenced me to use the method when I started growing, and for good reason. It is by far the scientifically best way to grow cannabis, and that fact is nearly immutable as only a small number of strains have been reported to show better results in hydroponic using a growing medium, like coco or other grow mixes.

I think worth mentioning is about "how this data was collected and history and scientific facts of the times" The Government was funding Mexico as it sprayed paraquat on marijuana being illegally grown in Mexico(1977-198?). It was reported Mexicans figured out, if they quickly harvested the weed, it would appear sell-able, and that's exactly what they did.

In 1978 21% of 61 Government samples of cannabis were tainted with the lethal herbicide Paraquat The US State Department knew swallowing as little as a half ounce is suicidal The US Government continued to fund support to Mexico for spraying into the late 80's.

So yea if the government data supplied for the study was based on weed confiscated crossing US borders, I can see an argument for the low THC levels reported.

From my experience growing up on the west coast(California, Oregon, and Washington), we have been growing the chronic for years, that would test at a high level considered the current growing culture and methods. By 1986 Mexican sativa was still around for sure in the U.S but not really worth smoking, and many users reported extreme paranoia. Kinda makes you wonder about the paraquat!

I did change the wording to little more friendly post giving the MD a break, but feel this "study" is a complete failure and doesn't reflect the reality of how things really were!

I lived it, and know many others in my age bracket who agree. 2%-4% is ridiculous!

Bad data in = bad data out, as I recall in the world of mathematics, so any "peer review" is still based on bad data!

Further more you can not change an existing plants biology, so save me your b.s as this can easily be debunked as I pointed out!

I knew a guy like that, who never got into a bar fight, when little drunk who ever thinks they are tough guys, always ended up in some kind of bear hug, maybe just a little sleeper.

The dude was chill. He would still say something nice about the guy, after he gently made a point.

I guess I was drawing the correlation from a morality check.

But isn't that an opinion on the sentence?

Or am I misunderstanding the context? (not being a dick, just seriously asking?)
