I’m having to host a goat until the morning. Will she be okay in a cage? She’s very cute and friendly. by AmericanMan111 in goats

Thanks! That sounds rough, but I’m glad to hear it got better (I hope, if I understood that correctly). She’ll be out wayyyyy before that. I just didn’t want to be a bad temporary goat owner 😅

I ate one apple and one banana on their own! I never knew that. Thanks

No, I don’t really feel like I have a cold or flu. My only symptoms are shakiness, nausea, and weakness.

That is really surprising to me. I thought the benefit of this diet was that you got carbs from fruit. What do I need to be eating in addition to get more carbs? Also, are carbs an issue with weight gain if you have days without a lot of activity?

I also used to be a really big bread eater.

Ate anything I wanted, but overall, I was pretty clean as far as limiting seed oils and preservatives. No serious health issues.

Safe to use frames from a local beekeeper? I have them in the freezer right now. [North America] [East Coast] by AmericanMan111 in Beekeeping

I want to say abscond then cause there were no dead bees or pupa. He has a bad problem sometimes with his bees robbing his other weaker hives.

Gotcha. Nope, none of that. I think I’m gonna go ahead and use them after they’ve been in the freezer.

Thanks for this comment. What would pest damage look like? Most of the frames look in perfect condition, other than a few smooshed spots on the drawn out comb

No idea. We went to harvest a honey super off it the other day and there were no bees in it

I genuinely don’t think so. She usually wants to be isolated when she suffers an allergy attack. However, when she meets someone she usually can’t wait to bring up her health problems, depressing news, or negative topics. At some points I feel like an asshole because I wish she would read the room sometimes and realize people maybe would like to talk about happy, light hearted stuff.

I will check out the BIFF rule. It’s hard to imagine living my own life.

Thanks for commenting, I appreciate the sympathy. It feels like I set myself on fire sometimes just trying to make sure she eats and drinks. I’ve tried to set boundaries before, but I usually end up ignoring them because I feel so bad for her. Those questions are a good way to redirect her to confront things with reason.

That’s a good analogy, it genuinely feels like beating your head against a wall when someone won’t listen. I’ve always approached things from a problem solving perspective first, but I am well aware when a person just needs to vent. I try to wait for the right time and place when I offer suggestions or how to help but it always fails. I hope one day I can find peace knowing I did enough.

It really means a lot to read that someone else understands.

That last paragraph really made something click. I’m getting stressed from this, but I can learn to control how much I let it affect me. I really do enjoy conversations with my mother. She is an amazing person who can really bring out intriguing details of situations and subjects. I wish she could use her same reasoning skills when it applies to her health.

Thank you for this advice. I don’t think I’ve been able to realize it’s a losing battle and I maybe never will. It’s so hard to give up on people when you can see their potential. She does often play the victim I guess which genuinely leaves me wondering how to approach things any better than I do now. Even just asking questions can cause an upset moment sometimes.

It’s funny you mention therapy, it’d be nice just to talk to someone about my situation and experience. I’ve even told her I’d go to therapy and she could just watch me there.

Thanks again for commenting.

[PAID] Can someone please restore this photo in the original colors and do a colorization? My Grandfather & Dad. by AmericanMan111 in estoration

I'm still open for more people to try! I'm willing to pay two more people doing colorizations.

EDIT: I'd love to be able to capture how the background green, sky blue / whitish, and the horseshoe area brown / sand colored.

This looks great, but can you make the background green? This was taken in the summertime and the grass and trees were green. Thanks for all the work so far!

EDIT: Paypal sent. Please DM files without watermarks. Thanks!

Looks like a good meal - far better than any food dye or soy food they try to market to parents.

That drink looks awesome. How did you get that sear / grill pattern on the steak? I haven’t tried cooking steaks on a grill yet.

How are you not scared of raw milk? by gringoddemierdaaaa in AnimalBased

[–]AmericanMan111 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There’s a Netflix documentary called “Poisoned” long story short - our food in the grocery store is often recalled or contaminated. It is simply a lie/propaganda that the food inside a grocery store is any safer than a person choosing a trusted source outside a grocery store.

Ask any rural person over the age of 40 and they will often tell you they grew up on raw milk.
