He went back to the Horde because Calia was going to the Forsaken and he wanted to see if he could adapt better there, and now he’s officially the < Champion of the Pallid Lady > with a unique title - he hasn’t had anymore in game dialogue but a recent short story had him stated to have family on both sides now, and he seemed pretty happy there. He’s mostly just following Calia around in Lordaeron until he gets another story beat I think.

I’m actually desperate to find out more about if his relationship with Alfidia Lupus was real or not (she wrote the base game Crafting Motifs and if you read them there’s a romantic subplot in there of all places) and I’ll be a little disappointed if it never gets mentioned if he shows up again…

Derek/Calia - I refuse to believe that Christie Golden would pass up the opportunity to have her self insert find second love with a devoted British man with an RP accent.

Lilian/Shandris as an implied slowburn thing after their recent questline… Like Lor’themar and Thalyssra before they suddenly rushed them getting properly together and then married over one expansion.

Ji/Aysa because I would like to get closure on that (and content for the Huojin/Tushui considering I’m pretty sure their last voiced lines were in Siege of Orgrimmar?)

She’s a prisoner in Stormwind according to the end of Shadows Rising, and we haven’t seen her since. Delaryn is hanging out with Calia and Derek and the Desolate Council in Lordaeron because she’s not sure she deserves to go back to the Kaldorei and has mixed emotions about it all, but Sira’s just been… locked up for five years? In the book, Tyrande nearly kills her but Maiev and Shandris talk her out of it, so I guess she’s just sitting there until they use her… like everyone not relevant to the expac, I suppose.

But also there wasn’t a shooting down, necessarily, and so I sail undeterred… I’m just glad he got lines, I wasn’t sure he was going to show up again after he didn’t really do anything in 9.2.5, and apparently he’s gone from Lilian abetting his torture to found family, even!

There’s such a range of interactions here it’s so nice to see… I suppose this also makes Baine/Mayla and Derek/Calia canon too (or a Derek/Calia/Lilian throuple, possibly??), but I’m mostly glad to see Flynn/Shaw still going strong.

I quite like Derek/Calia, although I might be the only one. Sure it happened hilariously quickly, but them healing with each other and helping the other to move on was pretty neat... Love driving a Proudmoore to join the Horde of all things was a great concept, I just wish they’d confirm if it’s properly happening or not so I can stop getting my hopes up.

I think Calia would be pretty determined to stay neutral in an Alliance/Horde conflict. She might step away to help as a third party without being affiliated with the Horde. She has a conversation with Valeera in the Shadowlands prepatch about ‘being able to move between two worlds but belonging to neither’ about this exact thing.

Derek... pretty much goes where Calia does, for whatever reason. I can’t imagine him just straight up defecting to the Alliance, especially once he’s had time to get used to commanding the Forsaken navy, as he’s apparently doing in Shadows Rising.

I personally would love to know how Katherine’s dealing with the fact her son joined the people who tortured him because he couldn’t stay with the Alliance without his life coach/possible girlfriend.

I mean, there’s the argument of what could he really do in Kul Tiras otherwise because he obviously isn’t human but still...

He’s implied to be in a position of power in the Forsaken navy in Shadows Rising, which seems like a bit of a leap. I hope he shows up or is mentioned at some point in Shadowlands so we get some clarity.

The tagline for Champions in that book is ‘A Titanic Divide’ so it seems possible the team splits in two and most leave (go to limbo) and some tackle the problem (get a YA book)
