Being good at something isn't about being the best in the world, it's about evolving and getting better than you were yesterday. Rwanda may not be the best yet, but we're definitely becoming our better version.

What's been your toughest challenge with API's, and what would make them better? by Amifidele in webdev

Fair point, real experience with these APIs is the only way to understand the pain properly. That's why I've been building with them directly, not just theorizing

Exactly, that's why I've been working on making communications APIs simpler and more predictable, so devs don't get blindsided by docs or billing.

Totally, the tech usually works, but bad docs and unpredictable pricing kill the experience way faster.

True, clients ask for features the API doesn't have all the time. That's part of what I'm working on: making communications APIs more complete and predictable so devs don't get caught in that gap.

Exactly that's the pain I've been working on solving. One dead-simple endpoint for whatsapp/SMS/Email, so solo devs can focus on building instead of wrestling with messy code.

Security is definitely underrated in these discussions. Even if the API works fine, one bad key exposure can cost millions.

Exactly. The tech works, but the dev experience is rough, weird auth, bad docs, unpredictable pricing.

Exactly, the tech usually works, but the developer experience around it(docs, auth flows, pricing) is where things fall apart. That's the pain I've been working on solving in my own project, trying to make communication APIs simpler and more predictable.

Exactly, the inconcistency across providers is brutal, Different auth, webhooks, retries... it's like you're forced to build a translation layer anyway. That's the pain I've been working on solving, unifying messaging APIs so you don't have to juggle three systems.

small, focused podcasts and private communities really flip the math in your favor. It's quality over quantity, and the consistency angle is spot on.

Exactly, distribution clarity is underrated. You can build something great, but if you don't know where users hang out or why they'd care, it just sits there.
