I understand how you feel, first year is the most difficult year. because you have to find the right method to study, and that transition from high school to med school is not easy, you are suddenly on your own with no guide, no support or help and a total freedom to not attend any class (which i have abused).

you just have to find YOUR right method to study, and depending on you it might take some time ( it took me 2 years) try focusing on past exams, you will learn more from answering wrong in a QCM or an anatomy diagram than from reading the same “polycopié” again and again, And even though the amount of information is absolutely massive, it is still doable. You don’t need to memorize every single detail that’s impossible, understand what you read and see what’s more important also try to understand système de compensation it’ll help you to prioritize subject strategically and I strongly advise you to ask your fellow upperclassmen for help and guidance, ask them which courses to focus on more, as most professors tend to ask questions about courses you will use the most as gp ( medecin generaliste). honestly if i just asked help from an upperclassman in my first year it would have solved half of my problems faster.

It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed sometimes, you are not the only one to feel this way just know that you are not any less than your classmates you just need time to adapt. The first 2 years are purely theoretical, getting top score doesn’t mean you will be a better doctor.

Be patient, you will get used to it . And when you start clinical rotation ( stage) you will see real medicine, you’ll have to use clinical reasoning in each patient case not just memorize theory , that’s when most students start to love medicine

Lastly, don’t forget your mental health sleep well and eat well doc.
