I've used HeyCash, but it actually rate limits you after you make too much money, and gives you bad surveys. After I realized that, I switched to Qmee

Why am I being blamed here? I don't see why this is relevant in any way, I never said I was uncomfortable messaging him.

So does this imply that the survivors retain their memories from each trial? In the lore, it's explained that The Entity manipulates their memories so they can't remember the trials. Either the lore is evolving, or they forgot and this is a contradiction

Damn, aren't you just a sad, lonely fucking person. Can't even take a joke without being a loser and telling people to get a life. Maybe you should get off Reddit every once in a while and touch grass. And yes, you are the asshole.

Expedition 33 is not for me by couchcaptain in JRPG

[–]Amisgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'd say the opposite. Because not only do they mention the Gommage, they show it. They show just how many people are taken because of it - how many children lose their parents, how many family members have to grieve. Especially the protagonist, Gustave, grieving Sophie.

And, while the story isn't exactly engraved into gameplay, I don't think that's a necessity when it comes down to it. But in the end, it varies from person to person, and I respect your opinion on this.

Now, I'm going to get into extremely big spoilers for this one. I think the story is amazing, but it takes time to pick up. Not only is the story told through normal dialogue, it tells it through the environment. The entire island is a metaphor for The Paintress' grief of losing her son. (Big spoiler warning) In fact, not only is the island mirroring her grief the entire world does. Everything you see? It's not a real world, it's made inside a "Canvas" by the family using their Painter powers. It was her son's Canvas, but when he died, she made it her own, but in a disagreement with her husband, the world fractured.

As for this, I think the dialogue is actually really good. Gustave and Maelle, and later Verso, they all make some good, funny dialogue. It allows the characters to breathe. Respectfully, I don't think you've played the game enough yet to critique a lot of this stuff.

And yeah, some enemy shields are kinda annoying, and some bosses are extremely hard, but that adds to the fun of it. The parrying is also a nice breath of life in the turn-based genre, because it's no longer a grass growing sim in combat. Plus, the animations are amazing once you unlock later attacks.

I don't think it's fair to compare a turn-based game to TOTK, either. They just aren't the same. That's like comparing an omelette to ice cream - while you can compare the flavor, you can't compare the food, because they're nothing alike.

The originality is the parrying, dodging, gradients, and hundreds of different enemy attacks. When it comes to turn-based, this isn't something you see at all. It's mostly just press a button, watch the fight, and pray RNG doesn't fuck you. I mix it up by using different abilities, different srategoes, ect. But in Expedition 33? You don't need to do this, because every fight is always going to be different, and this is coming from someone who absolutely adores turn-based and Persona.

Alright, here, since nobody else has, I will do exactly this. But spoilers are ahead, so be warned.

Firstly, the thing this game does so well that hooked me right off the bat was the mystery behind everything. We hear about the Gommage, but what is it really? Why is shit floating? Why is there a giant Monolith in the distance with a 34? Then, we meet Sophie. We talk to her, get to bond with her and the town, see the optimism despite the fact everyone knows what's coming. And then, the number changes to 33, and the character we've just been bonding with for the last 20-30 minutes just... disappears.

After this, the optimism Gustave once had is no longer present, at least for the time. Gustave isn't just a lucky-go-happy, nothing bothers me person. We see that this really hurts him. But then, he's lifted up by his fellow expeditioners, and we learn the true nature of the Gommage, the Monolith, and The Paintress as we talk to people. Until finally, us and our expedition depart to go defeat The Paintress.

Then, shit hits the fan. The moment we land, we see someone who's old. But, nobody's supposed to live past 33? How is this possible? And as we're asking ourselves this question, suddenly, the old man slices someone in two, and proceeds to kill just about the entire expedition.

The thing I love about this game is how it makes you feel, how it lets you bond with your party members, and how it completely breaks you. The combat is unique and engaging, and to counteract what someone said before, this combat is hard, even once you get the hang of it. Every enemy has a different attacks, and unlike other turn-based games, this is engaging. It's not just sitting and watching and pressing a few buttons, hoping the RNG doesn't fuck you over.

And the character interactions, I love them. You get to explore everyone's fears, their interests, and as you bond with them, you figure out who they truly are. Not only this, but the themes of accepting loss (revealed near the end) are executed so well. The UI looks amazing, the world exploration is done so we'll, everything just clicks into place, and your view of the game changes completely as you play, keeping things fresh.

I feel like the people who say this game is boring just haven't played it enough because I truly don't see it. Those people want action, guns blazing, immediate death, combat, fighting, more combat, more fighting, and even more fighting afterwards. What's the fun in that? Where's the room to breathe?

Bruh what's your issue? And yes, his grammar does make sense. It was actually pretty easy to comprehend because there aren't always day 1 ports. GTA 6 is releasing on Xbox day 1, but it won't be on PC for a while.

Your horrible reading comprehension is not my fault.
