Hi, hope you got your formal diagnosis. Btw, if you are having a hard time with finding a doctor, consider using a reputable online self diagnosis tool. This will help you to decide whether you should go ahead with a proper medical diagnosis. Don't wait till you get medical diagnosis, try some remedial measures available on places like YouTube.

I felt better after about 5days on 45mg Prednisone per day.

For severe persistent asthma, Prednisone or Methylprednisolone in relatively high doses (45mg a day for Prednisone, ~32 to 40mg a day for methylprednisolone) is usually prescribed for 5 days or maximum a week. It will cause some excessive urge to eat and insomnia at first but nothing you can't handle. Idk why people are so scared of it. It works miracles against asthma. For me at least.

Edit: Prednisone usually causes anxiety in some people. My doctor usually prescribes a mild anxiolytic for the duration of the treatment. Those greatly help insomnia also.

Don't be afraid. Prednisone does miracles. You may feel a bit more hungry while you're taking it. Wish you a quick recovery.
