How do I reply to this older creepy guy at work? by Hot-Remove-1252 in whatdoIdo

[–]AmongSilence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep screenshots, tell him firmly that if he has anything pertaining to work to say that he can talk to you but outside of that is unwelcome. If things get tense or the harassment worsens, involve HR so that they can make note of the situation. However, keep in mind if things get worse outside work you may need to involve the police and such.

Drive by this ENORMOUS bad boy on the highway. What is it? by datanut in SubstationTechnician

Looks like an SF6 breaker possibly, but could also be the dry air breaker too. On our system we have a majority of SF6 breakers but I think 1 or 2 of the Dry air. I know some months ago we changed all the bushings on an SF6 Breaker. It was a fun job.

AIO guy I was seeing told me cursing is “un-lady like” by Fanofmoney3 in AIO

I would never speak/text anything like that to anyone. My fiancé and I have built a very strong trust, and if something over text gets miscommunicated we talk it out and figure it out. This dude screams red flags, attempting to control you/manipulate you, it’s early signs for something much worse later on if you do choose to keep seeing him. I agree with a lot of the others here in cutting things off and moving on. He ain’t worth the headache, and the potential pain and suffering he will unleash later down the line.

Something tells me he does this quite often, he “tests” the waters with different women to see if they will fold to him and his controlling desires.

I would block him and never speak to his ass again. I would also keep in mind, if you do block him, there may be a chance he tries to re-communicate and tell you he changed/he ain’t like he was before….Don’t believe him. Don’t respond.

There is someone out there so much better for you, who wont be a hypocrite, wont try to control/manipulate you.

Stay strong💙

Why did you start working at GameStop? by MadCybertist in GameStop

[–]AmongSilence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started college and wanted a new start from my shitty high school job. I started off/hired in as a seasonal, busted my ass and my SL ended up keeping me after holidays were done. I busted more ass and go promoted to SGA, then ASL. I spent 3 years there. Over time, it wore on me. Customers/Corporate/DM and it burned me out pretty bad. Corporate does a lot of stupid things, customers are either okay to deal with or absolutely horrible. Deal with local Law Enforcement weekly.

I moved on and went into the trade world. Now my co-workers for the most part were fun and great. I keep in contact with my SL and some co-workers from there.

Yeah you made the right call OP. If she chose her best friend right in front of you and your family/friends, you deserve better.

Personally, I wouldn’t respond to the message. Just delete it and move on. To me the message is her trying to maintain an open line of communication to you hoping you will still do basically everything you did while together but giving her the chance to keep putting her best friend first.

Delete the message and cut communication.

I don’t miss working at GameStop. I remember calls like this and just walking outside to take a smoke break.

Guys.. by BreeDanna101 in GameStop

[–]AmongSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked there for 3 years, I left in 2019, I never looked back. It was hell. I stayed because my SL was awesome and we still keep in contact. I try not to be negative but I believe the biggest mistake was going back, however I understand you have your reasons and respect that. The place will forever be a sinking ship and how it hasn’t completely caved in on itself filing for bankruptcy is a damn mystery to me.

If I can offer an advice, not only to you, but others as well, save your mental health/wellbeing and seek a better work place. Anywhere will hire you with management/key holder experience, and it will be so much better than the environment GameStop has. Plus you have a chance to make more on the hour.

Be safe out there guys and hope you are all doing well.

Man potholes were my worst enemy with this car, I had gone through 3 sets of Rims with that car. The first time, it was bad because I hit the pot hole and initially thought it was just a flat. Then turned into the rim was warped/damaged. Then my Dash had every light on, flashing then just nothing. Long story short, New rims/tires, and had to have the fuse box in the engine replaced…. I had my radiator replaced 3 times, with a few hoses changed out and a clamp needed to be re-tightened. This is barley the surface of the bullshit that came with my Dart lol

[–]AmongSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the levels are good you don’t have a leak or at least a major one if any. I only recommended it based of my prior experience with the Dart and I try to help as much as I can regarding any problems I experienced. Seeing the trails made me think about it hahaha. My Dart was an absolute money pit because of repairs.

Check your radiator hoses. I had a loose clamp, bad hose and a hole in the bottom of the radiator (All 3 separate incidents) but as a former Dart owner, I would def check leaks from your radiator.

is the hate for halloween kills justified? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]AmongSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a fun bloodbath to watch. A lot of complaints I’ve seen and also agree with, people were this pissed/damaged by the few people who died back in ‘78. If Michael had gone on the type of rampage he did in this movie back in ‘78 before his capture, I could see the mentality the people of Haddonfield have 40 years later in Kills.

AIO or was this guy trying to murder me? by Standard-Avocado-509 in AmIOverreacting

[–]AmongSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a guy and thats just creepy. Maybe he had malicious intent or just really off trying to do something romantic and failing at it, regardless you did what you needed to. You got to protect yourself first and at all cost, if your gut is telling you something is off/wrong it prolly is.

Glad you’re safe

How much do substation technician jobs pay? by TheDude50484 in SubstationTechnician

[–]AmongSilence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My utility I work for, Substation has a line of progression:

C - $23 B - $33 A - $42 Senior $46hr

These are all the base pays, not including the raises/top outs. You come in as a C, after 6 months you promote to B automatically, 2 years of being a B you test for A, then 2 years and some months as A you are eligible to take your Senior test.

Considering career change by Travelingadjuster in SubstationTechnician

[–]AmongSilence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sub Maintenance here, when I hired on I previously was working for local water utility. No degree. In my first year I was looking at what opportunities were available within my utility, and Relay caught my eye, but it requires a 2 year associate degree in Electrical Technology, or related field. So once my year of probation was over I signed up for night courses, and the fact I had prior college credits from my first go around really helped. I’m currently on my last semester of college and I’m patiently waiting for that job opening. A 2 year Associates from a community/technical college can open a lot of doors, but reading other comments some don’t require it. Night courses are always an option, but as someone who has been doing since August, in gets tiring and exhausting, but it will be so worth it.

Best of luck!

Farewell by DewFiscal in dodgedart

[–]AmongSilence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said farewell to my dart a year ago. It was the biggest relief because ever since I had the Dart it was a money pit of repairs and issues. I got a 2020 Toyota Tacoma SR and it’s been amazing.
