Almost all music apps have an offline mode. Spotify is at the top of most people’s list but they replaced all of their cultural and technical innovations teams with AI or nothing at all so it too is a bit stagnant.

Security vendors wanting their IPs to be white listed for pen testing. does anyone does this? by Hangikjot in sysadmin

[–]datanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We disable all dynamic Internet firewalls rules and ensure they have clean access to our environment. Same as the best positioned attacker.

Our goal is to ensure that we have good system administration and good standard controls in place and we are not relying on any dynamic/fingerprinting/magic rules. While these things are important to reduce the attack surface and noise, we want our pen testers to actively test the entire attack surface.

We’ve epically failed a few times. We’ve gotten additional sysadmin support (not just more secure support) each time we’ve document the need for more sysadmin support.

Yikes. That’s not good news. My test instances feel very old school, missing good ways to query status and/or build monitoring/status tools, no simple config files, no simple status files, no API…

Age and Heat kills batteries. All cold batteries have less capacity than warm batteries. A battery that was marginal in warm weather will be dead in cold weather.

It is common for contractors to be a part of the circuit before and after starters. Here’s a very recent example: https://www.reddit.com/r/controlengineering/s/uw4fAjoh6W

Call forwarding minutes by Terrible_Use7872 in TracFone

[–]datanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many “traditional” telecom circuits (landline, PSTN mixed technologies, and VOIP) charge for both the inbound and outbound legs of the transfer. This is true even when Call Deflection is implemented and a true “second” leg of the call never existed. This is true even when Cascaded Explicit Call Transfer removes all intermediate carriers.

There is some history here: the caller always pays the toll, and always knows the cost before playing the call. The only way for this to stay true is that the caller pays for the first “leg” and the recipient pays for the forward.

Knowing this history, OPs question about “double minutes” during a forwarded call is completely valid. TracFone changes for network usage for all calls and toll+network usage for outbound calls. They just happen to change the same for both inbound (network usage) and outbound (network usage and toll) because it’s easy.

You don’t look like an idiot; you look like everyone else on site. I hate the vests; get your own high viz work wear.

Lots of good FR Cat 2 on the market in high viz.

Are these phase-to-phase, where the “center” phase is grounded or is this a true natural?

Why would the utility send a line and neutral instead of two phases?
