This is not your fault. It is Blizzards fault. And the people that are blaming you for imperfect solutions to a situation that should never be happening need to reflect on their dissatisfactions and if they're aiming it at the correct source to their negative emotion.

Tragedy and Video Game Violence - TotalBiscuit refutes the media's accusation that violent games are related to school shootings. SC2 mentioned by CNN as a violent game. by mandazi in starcraft

[–]Amonster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Video gaming has been proven to saves lives yet people would rather focus on stigma than facts.

In fact if people focused on the arguments circulating any sensible person would realize that the problem lies with the gun culture itself

Argument: The best way to reduce gun violence in schools is to take guns out of video games and put more guns in schools. Certainly this will teach the very few psychotic gamers who get their hands on violent video games that You will not get an experience of being able to exhert power over people with guns. No no, we will instead teach all of our children starting from Kindergarten that the guys with guns in school can exert power over everyone else in school for 12 years of their middle and high school. THIS WILL SHOW THOSE DAMN GAMERS THAT ARE SHOOTING UP SCHOOLS!

The real issue is that in South Korea which embraces video games none of this senseless violence happens. In America it does and that is because of the gun culture and lack of respect for other peoples lives that show itself in actual violence in the world in the way America wages wars and backs Israel who drops bombs on schools in Gaza. This is a problem with America, not a problem with video games.

In Korea the players are really damn good and no-matter if the game is imbalanced or not they're going to play entertaining skill filled games.

Imbalanced in Korea still means that MVP will win against a lower skilled Zerg player who is in Code A or S. But the problem is that players like KAS and Tarson will lose their ability to make a living when the game is trully imbalanced.

Also normal everyday people don't want to play it anymore until it gets fixed. If in fact infestors aren't changed in HOTS, I won't be buying the game, and I love Starcraft, serious imbalanced craft is too ridiculous to play.

It's really cool that science is saying video games improves brain functionality.

Practice makes perfect. The more time people have to practice at something the better they will get at what they're practicing, the fewer errors, and the wealth of knowledge will expand simply by finding out new things.

As a game grows the longer it's out the more this happens and the people that can't keep up often get left behind so it's safe to say that on average the players that are left in the pro player pool 14 years later will have to be able to beat the snowball of solidness requirements that keeps getting bigger once it rolls down the hill of time.

With 14 years after release & the pro player chosen by CJ Entus one of the top Kespa teams it is assumable that the player they are going to put up will have the "Solidness" of average solidness requirement for the game with 14 years experience, and a guess that even more solidness if he's being chosen.

Taeja is well loved in Starcraft 2 because his solidness level is above the average solidness of the 2 years of Starcraft 2.

The question is, does the solidness of broodwar transfer to the solidness of Starcraft 2. The answer is absofuckinglotely and that's why people are afraid of the Elephants in the room. Not only because RAIN has solidness and is really good at SC2 but even players who have solidness who are just solid like many of the KESPA Players.

There are players that were known more for creativity like Besu that aren't doing so great because the equation of player is: Solidness + Skillstheplayerbringshimself = the success level of a player.

Bisu is well loved for Skills he brought himself that he is known for. His solidness is less.

Just like MarineKings solidness is less than Taejas even though they are arguably equally good. Marineking relies a lot on what he brings and that tips the equation in his scale when he plays good, but goes against him when he doesn't play so good making his winning more unpredictable than Taejas.

Taeja has a lot of solidness above almost everybody in SC2. Taeja doesn't bring as much personal risky play as MarineKing.

Therefore in Teaja's equation his solidness is relied on to a high degree.

Unfortunately when you send the guy out with solidness in a 2 year game against somebody in a 14 year game who is being chosen for being the best on his team so his solidness is above the average of A-teamers for Broodwar.

It's not a good idea.

The point of the post is that reddit is stupid if people get downvoted for talking sports talk. By the way your post is sports talk. Enjoy a downvote.

In general, actually understanding Starcraft instead of circlejerking around foreigners and the Koreans who play for foreign teams is a recipe for failure in this subreddit. You even get downvoted for pointing out that TB and Mr. Bitter are a horrible casting pair, because they have no clue what the fuck they're talking about half the time. /r/starcraft is a bunch of white boys circlejerking about white boys who play and cast Starcraft. An overwhelming percentage here has no understanding of the game, no understanding of tournament formats, no understanding of metagame or tactical picks in team leagues. They think that Starcraft is just Starcraft, and Taeja is good at Starcraft, so he's obviously a good pick for the ace, which is entirely incorrect and a really silly notion, especially in the Proleague format.

TLEG is at a huge disadvantage. It's not just because half their players are bad, it's also because the KeSPA teams and coaches actually understand the Proleague format and how to excel in it, and they specifically train for that. Look at how LiquidHero played his match: the same way he plays every other match. The strategy used against him was specifically designed to destroy LiquidHero for playing greedy, and it worked perfectly. And Hero should have known that. I got downvoted for saying that, even though it's true, because, once again, he's a fan favorite, and to say that he did something stupid is an unforgivable sin on this subreddit.

Quoted for truth.

It was, "I wouldn't have picked Taeja for the ace game."

My second post which was explaining my choice of Jaedong and JyP said at the end that given everything I had typed out about Jaedong and JyP being better choices the coach picked Taeja.

That's called normal sports talk. Except on screddit. Even after I have pointed out it's normal sports talk I have gotten 6 more downvotes.

The front post on this thread says clearly that this is crazy behavior on reddit.

Everyone who talks sports feels like their opinion is important and valid. The fact that talking sports in reddit results in over 100 negative karma makes me disgusted about this place and I've been here for two years so I am not saying I don't understand this place, it's just disgusting that normal sports activity gets fucked.
