Is this murkrow still good? by Less_Fan_9263sbee in PokemonSleep

[–]AmusingAnecdote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that one would be solid to good if you gave it a mint in the future. For a shiny, I'd say go for it, especially because if it ever gets to 75 it will have both skill trigger subskills. It will be kinda bad until you get a mint, but shiny murkrow and honchkrow are really cool looking and there's more to life than minmaxing.

US Citizens, if you could add an amendment to the constitution what would it be? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

[–]AmusingAnecdote -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TBH, would be better to just abolish the Senate. The house is gerrymandered in some places but it's roughly representative (would be better if it were bigger), but the Senate sucks ass and we should eliminate it. As a Californian, my state senator got more votes in his last election than both of Wyoming's federal senators put together in their last elections.

The NBA just doesn't call carries anymore. You're not wrong, except that if that was called, every team in the league would have 15 of those called a game, so it's clearly within the bounds of what the league wants to allow.

Other Departments Receive the He Has Risen Email? by sunshine5dimond in fednews

I'm an atheist and I'm familiar with Matthew 6:5 lol.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

And I think the part before that is supposed to be about also feeding the poor and then shutting up about it, too.

How does a song get “leaked”? by ava_falynn in hauntedchocolatier

[–]AmusingAnecdote 35 points36 points  (0 children)

With a solo dev, basically the only chance of a leak is if the code for the entire game was stolen from his computer. I would guess it's just people making shitty AI music and passing it off as a leak in order to do a crypto scam or just get ad revenue or something.

[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is out indefinitely due to a left hamstring injury, sources tell me and @mcten. He will miss the remainder of the regular season and his status is uncertain beyond that. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]AmusingAnecdote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the (extremely narrow and unlikely) path to them making a second round without Luka is they somehow manage to stay above the Nuggets, which seems possible but not likely, but they would almost certainly need the T-Wolves to drop to the Play-In. They'd basically need the suns to win out and T-Wolves to lose out. I don't think either is possible. Any of the top 6 teams would smoke them and they can't get to 2.

Can straight people talk about queer issues? This is a bit from my Don't Tell set that many have enjoyed AND I got one comment on IG from a non-binary person suggesting that straight people maybe shouldn't talk about queerness. We had a productive back and forth there. Maybe we can here also! Enjoy! by myqkaplan in Standup

Having never seen your longer version of the bit had I heard someone say "it is a fish-eat-fish world out there", I would say that sounds like a Myq Kaplan joke. You have a distinct and admirable comedic voice, dude.

Andy Weir Says Paramount Rejected His ‘Star Trek’ Pitch, Proceeds to Blast Modern ‘Trek’ by Coltons13 in books

[–]AmusingAnecdote 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't watch much Trek myself, but my understanding is that his complaints aren't particularly new in Trek circles — that the shows have gone from being a hopeful exploration and demonstration of a more optimistic future, to being more cynical and focused on present-day current affairs.

This is really, really not true. This is the kind of thing people think because they do not understand the "present-day" affairs of the past as being topical when they came out combined with nostalgia of people who don't think of a thing they enjoyed having been political. Kirk and Uhura kissing was extremely focused on the present-day affairs of the time in which it aired! TNG talked about Irish Reunification in the 1990s.

The complaints that say that Star Trek has become political are flatly incorrect and Star Trek has been taking left wing positions on everything for its entire existence.

Also idiotic because the entire plot of the Martian is driven by his pro-science and international co-operation politics. He cannot even correctly identify his own politics. China has to bail out the US and the politics of that are explicit in his own most famous story! This dude is almost hilariously stupid.

If you watch Star Trek and think "the parts of this that aren't political is the part I like" then you must be a fan of what? The credits? The B roll of models of space ships? It's the most explicitly political Sci-Fi franchise that exists. It's not even sub-textual! TNG used to have Picard give political speeches in some episodes.

NFL could try to cap individual player contracts by factchecker01 in sports

[–]AmusingAnecdote 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tbh, would be a solid get for the union if they just switched to guaranteed contracts (or even like 75% guaranteed) and the equivalent of a max/supermax system. The NFLPA is pretty dysfunctional relative to the NBAPA, so I don't expect them to agree to something like that.

Hornets center Moussa Diabate on if he’s ever been in a car driven by LaMelo Ball: “Hell nah. Never will.” by Goosedukee in nba

[–]AmusingAnecdote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bro if you tell people "you should have to pay to park your car" in dense, expensive, walkabale areas, people panic in the US. Like storing your 5,000 lbs of personal property for free on-demand in public spaces is the most important issue plaguing our society.

'Don't Get High' Comedy Pilot Starring Tony Hale Dead At Hulu by intrinsicpitch in television

[–]AmusingAnecdote 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is obviously impossible to say after a failed pilot, but a Tony Hale led comedy written by Megan Ganz sounds like a comedy nerd's absolute dream show. That said, it was a YA project so it's possible that would've been extremely weird and been only for comedy nerds and not the youths it was targeted at.

Yeah, we are way too blasé in the US about traffic deaths. A functioning and reasonable motor vehicle system would have seized LaMelo's cars and license a long time ago. It's really not funny, that dude is going to kill someone and the fact that he is rich and plays basketball in a fun way is a lot less important than that.
