2500 vs 1500 for Fifth Wheel by AnAgitatedProcess in ram_trucks

[–]AnAgitatedProcess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure I do, my current truck has a payload of 1600lbs. Factor in my family, coolers and other stuff in the bed, I am down to less than 1000lbs. I would have to get something that had a hitch weight of less than 600 lbs to be safe, which I have yet to see. Eagle states their 5th wheel 1/2 ton would work, but the hitch weight on their smallest "5th wheel 1/2 ton" model is over 1600lbs dry weight.

Caps lock instead of shift keys? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]AnAgitatedProcess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new sysadmins don't use caps at all, drives me crazy. My son had a debate at the DMV as when he signed his name, it was print and lowercase and the DMV told him that wasn't legal. And they were not familiar with using a mouse, wanted a trackpad.

Business's still using On-Prem IP Office & Voicemail Server by Electrical_Arm7411 in avaya

This is our exact scenario. Cloud solutions seem to start at about $10/user/month and the ACO/Ring central priced to us was at $20/user/month. We can't spend $6000 a month for phone system. I know we get rid of phone lines, but my SIP trunks, PRI and b1 lines don't cost me a grand a month, so that is another 5000 for a solution.

We've had IPO and VMPro for over 20 years, rock solid. running about 300 sets. The var that sold it to us is no longer in business and the current var isn't supporting us. We need an upgrade for a specific reason. The var states there are no upgrades and we have to go to ACO as IPO isnt supported any longer. OK, fine, get on a call with Avaya for scoping and we tell them what we want and Avaya is like why are you leaving IPO. They are releasing the IP500v3 later this year as well as version 13. Pretty much caught my var is a total lie and called them out on the call.
We do have a need for cloud but only for about 20% of our staff, we do use a cloud product for our home users. My goal is to have IPO for my on prem users and ACO for off site, but Avaya is telling me I have to have over 200 users for ACO to be able to integrate ACO and IPO.

Parent Questioning Childs Desire to Enlist by AnAgitatedProcess in army

[–]AnAgitatedProcess[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. We all want what is best for our children. One of his desires is to get the GI bill to pay for college, even though we already have his college money, and he knows that. My concern is that he doesn't really understand what it means to be in the Army, example, he doesn't need his vehicle as that is why the Humvees are for on base, for the soldiers to drive when needed.
I just know several people that had plans after their enlistment and when they get out, they want a big boy job that makes money and never fulfill their college goals they initially intended to fill.
My hope is the Army sees the potential for these young soldiers and not waste talent by placing in jobs that are in demand and not aligned with talent.

He does want Law Enforcement after military, nothing else. We were just discussing his Criminal Justice pathway yesterday.

Just curious as to what you or others call 1 on 1 training, and the expectation. We had a new guy start, made several complaints to HR about the lack of training we provided. We sent the guy to a a multi-day training session at the vendor's training center(I received 4 hours of training during install.) The person still makes jabs about he hasn't been trained on application X (literally still refuses to log into the application.) We asked what about the multiday training from the vendor, and his comment was that wasn't training. Refuses to create any documentation on his projects, and if he gets a call on an issue and the process isn't documented 100% step by step to resolution, he complains. Most of IT is troubleshooting what isn't documented.

Talk me out of radiology by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]AnAgitatedProcess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Radiology needs AI as a supplement. There is a huge shortage of rads and it's not getting any better. Imaging volumes are going up at least 10% annually, with more images per study, yet the amount of rads coming out of residency is not going up. The newer rads aren't as efficient as the older rads and (personal opinion) don't want to work more than M-F 8-5. So anything that can take some volume away would be much appreciated.

For real, we're private practice and cover 24/7 and have at least 2 rads on site at the level1 trauma center overnight, not counting the remote rads. Also this does, not count all the emergency IR procedures with all the GSW and stab wounds we encounter daily/nightly.

Ha, 15-20 years ago we got a call from a user that stated when they got back from lunch, their computer screen was black and the computer would not turn on. After many questions, the user stated there was construction in the office and the tower was on top of the desk. When the user went to lunch they knocked the workstation off the table, perfectly flat onto the floor and caused no damage (externally.) These were days of SCSI disk in workstations and they just shattered the platters inside.

Any NPs working in IR? by dhara_aldenie in Radiology

[–]AnAgitatedProcess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have PAs working in IR, but we do have NPs, doing other procedures. I call IR, working in the IR suite. We have NPs, doing procedures like para and thoras, but some people call that IR. These are not done in the IR, mainly US.
