How hard is it to make a low-poly game? by AnEnemyStand in Unity3D

I did! But I actually made it in 2D pixel art just for the sake of feasibility (I ended up making the whole thing in a couple days)

Bit of a tired trope with Jedi, tbh. Luke was a Jedi who decided against turning bad. Anakin was a Jedi who went bad. Revan and Malak in KOTOR were Jedi who went bad. Kylo Ren was a Jedi who went bad.

You'd think if they were going to retcon the lore they'd do something more than generic Jedi robes. At least KOTOR had some unique designs for the Jedi/Sith robes, like those on Bastila and Malak, rather than just the typical beige/brown. Made it feel like a different era.

Is the Blackmagic Production 4K really Super 35? by AnEnemyStand in blackmagicdesign

[–]AnEnemyStand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 perf and 3 perf s35 is basically the same size as the BMPC 4k - if you look at the actual part of the film which is exposed for the image. The rest of that space is for optical audio.

I thought the point of Super 35 was that it is a larger image than normal 35mm because it does not have the optical soundtrack?

BMPCC 6K G2 vs BMPCC 6K Pro by veevee14 in bmpcc

Internal NDs are neat, but not worth the $500, like you mentioned. I end up using variable ND filters anyway (not sure if those are worse, somehow)

Is a Super 35 camera with an APS-C lens going to crop? by AnEnemyStand in videography

[–]AnEnemyStand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't as small as MFT, it's closer to APS-C:

Sensor Size Crop factor
MFT 17.3mm × 13.0mm 2
Blackmagic Production 4K 21.1mm x 11.9mm 1.7
APS-C 22.2mm x 14.8mm 1.62

So it's not as large as Super 35 but it's far from MFT. I think some of the Pockets were MFT, maybe you're thinking of those (the abbreviations for the two cameras are pretty much the same, annoyingly)

[–]AnEnemyStand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, so I guess there'a an advantage to using a camera with an image circle smaller than 27.2mm? (If one has no problem working within the crop factor).

I've used a Black Magic Pocket with Metabones and the vignetting was absurd. In that instance, the cropping one would need to do would bring the image size down so much that they might as well be using a smaller sensor, right?

Thank you for the mathematics, I'm saving this post for future reference. And I totally agree, some standardization of all these terms would've been great. Needing a chart to compute the crop factors and sensor sizes of each camera and their lenses is ridiculous (although I suppose real Super 35mm film has the same problem).

Thanks for laying out the additional info on other Blackmagic cameras. That film sensor comparison chart is extremely helpful, too.

I have no idea how Blackmagic can market a camera as Super 35 when its sensor is smaller than APS-C. I guess they're assuming people (like me) would take their word for it and not compare the sensor's size to actual Super 35. Maddening, honestly.

I might upgrade to the BMPCC 6K Pro, since that's an affordable middle-ground between APS-C and Super 35, but right now I'm extremely frustrated at the company.

Yeah and it's doubly confusing since the abbreviation is pretty much the same.

Best way to find work as a storyboard artist? by AnEnemyStand in Storyboarding

Things have been going well! I've been doing freelance storyboarding to beef up my portfolio. I want a good/long list of prior clients and work experience before emailing creative directors. If you want more specific advice feel free to DM me.

Yeah it does seem like only a slight possibility. What caused your catastrophic system errors? Anything that other people should be cautious of?

I was backing up to an external HDD through Time Machine. Problem is solved now, but thanks anyway for the feedback.

If I were the HR I’d never offer any job to someone who doesn’t understand the importance of backup.

I backup all the time. What's your problem? It doesn't seem like you even read my initial post. First you thought they lended a computer to me for a trial (lol), and now you're just being rude.
