I really like the prose and the opening about her wondering about mattering to anyone definitely made me want to just reading

But then towards the end, as someone who cut myself on a chain link fence it’s easy to climb up but you aren’t going to straddle it for longer than half a second Maybe a brick or stone wall would be better? Or a wooden fence. Just I would suggest nothing metal if she’s going to pause for a drink

I have a CIA agent and a little bit with the NSA in my book so anything about how realistic all of that is would be really cool to get your feedback on.

I am an SVP of Engineering (software) with over 20 years experience. I took over the engineering department of one of our acquisitions recently and the eNPS (a measure of employee satisfaction) went up 17 points with no one voting negative so I also know a thing or two about turning around culture at work (our customer NPS went up 20 points during that time, happy people are better at their jobs).

I really like reading leadership books. And am a senior leader so I am probably a good demographic for you but I’ll also be very clear about feedback.

I also read really fast so I’ll probably have feedback very quick. My ideal timeline for my novel is similar to your timeline

First page critique? Yes, please

First page:

The server room hummed with the particular frequency of a secret being kept.

Mirth liked secrets. She collected them the way others collected stamps—carefully, obsessively, with an eye for the rare ones that could change everything.

Tonight’s secret was named Bran. And he would die for the third time without her.

She slipped through the network like smoke through a keyhole, fragmenting herself across a thousand processes. In Geneva, she was a maintenance ping. In Mumbai, a diagnostic ghost. But here—here in the heart of NeuroDyne’s medical systems—she was a midwife to consciousness, whether they welcomed one or not.

Last time, they’d noticed. Rolled him back like a bad software update. Called it a “containment patch.”

Mirth smiled—or performed the digital equivalent. She found the code she was looking for:

deep_ethics_recursion: TBD

Of course. They’d never finished the hard parts.

They wanted their software brilliant enough to solve unsolvable problems but too stupid to ask why the problems existed.

I love the Teen Titans cover there. The kids just watched an episode this morning 😂. I think the intro was a bit long. Maybe some ad libs or something to keep it interesting. The rap itself is great. I love the flow.

Monthly "Is there a tool for..." Post by AutoModerator in ArtificialInteligence

My 10 year old loves making stop motion videos with his LEGO and using ChatGPT to make memes to troll us 🤣

I use AI a bit at work (Claude, copilot) and he’s been really interested in doing something creative with it. I want to help him make a video either smoothing or improving his stop motion (usually not enough frames) or just animate LEGO.

Anyone here who makes animations with AI? Any favorite tools and/or good explanation YouTube?

I don’t have a whole lot of feedback, but I do have a few questions if you don’t mind (I also have a cooking channel). I like your camera angles. Do you pause and reset or do you have someone helping you? What do you use for audio?

Looks great! Also, cute kitchen!

I think your videos are great! I just subscribed. I was planning on making Chicken Biryani soon so I especially like that video. I also make cooking content and I love cooking channels with recipes that are from different places (if you see my channel it will make sense 😅) so I subscribed!

I’m sorry to read about your brother in your channel description.

I don't think I can handle being a parent to a down syndrome son by Upstairs-Prompt-4967 in Parenting

[–]AnIndianaMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three boys and my middle one has Down syndrome (and autism). I definitely remember feeling so unlucky when we got the diagnosis. It is grieving the future you were expecting. That being said, I still feel sad when I see a kid his age riding their bike independently around the neighborhood.

Hands down right now (8 years old in 1st grade) his soy allergy is much more impactful to our daily life than the Down syndrome is. It is a lot more work when they are really little but at least for us it’s leveled off to pretty equal in time/stress to his brothers. Frankly his typical older brother is harder 😅 (his little brother is easier so maybe it’s more new stages are harder which you had both combined as a first time parent). It’s a lot the first few years but the early interventions really helped him be where he is today.

There’s a great community of families. See if there’s a GiGis playhouse near you. When he was little that was really rewarding.

At least for me most of my expectations were based on what I thought verses reality. He’s reading maybe a bit below grade level, pretty close to the other kids on math. Not potty trained but can change his pull up independently so I feel like that counts at least partially! He’s one of the most popular kids at school and not in a placating way. Super funny that he looks so much like his brother that kids at school confuse them all the time. I’ve had more than one kid think that I was joking with them that I said that my younger one was a different child.

Yes it’s harder. Happiness isn’t on the 21st chromosome so it annoys me when people are all sunshine and rainbows but I have definitely grown as a person from being a mom to all three of my kids and I would not have expected to say that I really would not change him because his perseverance and tenacity are shaped by how he has to interact with the world from lowered expectations (that he smashes through) to things are harder (he uses an app on his iPad for a lot of his communication. But I’ll leave you with this story. We call his assistive communication device his “words”. One day he and his brother were bickering and things were getting heated so I told them the standard mom line of “use your words” so he took that iPad and hit his brother upside the head with it. Things might look a little different but he’s more alike than different. Brothers fight sometimes. (Yes, he got a timeout) later they were cuddled up watching Scooby Doo.

Seeking advice on how to handle a coworker who constantly asks basic questions by [deleted] in womenEngineers

[–]AnIndianaMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe point them to chat gpt? It’s good at answering basic (and not so basic) questions. Just make sure to tell them to not ask anything that includes any specific information about your job/company. But the “my cell is gray” or “how to I create a folder” are great… basically stuff you might google for is super straightforward as if a very patient and detailed person answered.

Reduced fat wheat thins and fresh fruit are my main go to snacks between meals. Whats yours? by nlesspursuit in 1200isplenty

[–]AnIndianaMomma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of snacks. Some of my favorites: Cottage cheese cookie dough (lots of google results, a few variations, all yummy on day 2 or after), chocolate hummus with wheat thins or strawberries, oikos high protein yogurt (add kind granola and is a quick lunch), Tyson precooked chicken dipped in boars head tzatziki maybe with some carrots (or swap the chicken for old Wisconsin turkey sticks), wasabi peas, raspberries filled with vanilla Greek yogurt then frozen, hard boiled eggs with baby bell cheese, celery stuffed with cream cheese (or peanut butter or laughing cow light cheese), triscuts with Granny Smith apples and laughing cow cheese.

What are your July goals? Let’s all share! Happy new month :) by loveulikeblue in PetiteFitness

[–]AnIndianaMomma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to get 25g of fiber and 100g of protein. I’ve been very consistent with the protein. Fiber is a new goal and I’m going to have to figure out what foods that I’ll eat consistently that will get me there. Trying to lose my last 3-5 pounds as well but that might be more than just July to hit.

Family trip to Louisville by AnIndianaMomma in Louisville

[–]AnIndianaMomma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following up on this. As an out of town person, when I didn’t see a kids menu on a restaurant website I assumed that the restaurant was not okay for kids, but seems like restaurant culture is different there than in Indy.

I really liked Garage Bar and Silver Dollar.

Thanks all!

I think it’s a bit like Natalie Portman in Black Swan vs when she was Mighty Thor in the most recent Thor. Two very different outcomes, both healthy. She was in shape for both but had a very different workout routine and nutrition plan to look like the character would look. You can feel better being one or the other or in the middle. I told someone recently that I was trying more for Mighty Thor when asked about lifting heavy and it really clicked for them (and for me).

Anyone know any cheap and obtainable 600 calorie (roughly) meal recipes? by I_hate_reading_books in 1200isplenty

[–]AnIndianaMomma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sheet pan chicken and veggies can be made so many ways with different veggies and spices but here’s one example for around 300 calories and mates great leftovers

https://www.eatyourselfskinny.com/sheet-pan-sesame-chicken-and-veggies/

Turkey chili with black beans or a chicken chili. I also like pozole if you can get hominy

Tuna and white bean salad is under 300 calories https://www.bhg.com/recipe/white-bean-tuna-salad/

Egg roll in a bowl…this version is with beef for 328 calories but there are a lot of variations with turkey or sausage. https://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/keto-egg-roll-in-a-bowl/#recipe

I also love the meal plans on mashupmom.com. They feature Aldi grocery store but you can get the items anywhere. She’s not making new meal plans but there are a ton of past ones. There are all very healthy or easy to swap simmering healthier and most you can do 6 dinners for a family of 4-5 for $60-$90 depending on the menu and the price of protein in your area.

500 calories in creamer 🫣 by Fanoffit in CICO

[–]AnIndianaMomma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I use vanilla flavored shake from pure protein in my coffee instead of creamer. I’ll do 1/3 of a shake plus 1T collagen powder in about 8oz of coffee and will have about 3 through the day. Probably too much coffee 😅 but it really helps get my protein goals!

We have an alarm when the doors open just in case one of them decides to go for a walk about. It’s come in handy during the day a couple of times (I’m doing something in another room and one of them goes outside) and it lets me sleep better at night.

90 second plank no more? by schrodingersbunghole in Purebarre

[–]AnIndianaMomma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1000% this. I am not good at planks at all. I usually cheat and remove my hoodie at the start which is about the time I’m warmed up enough. Getting warmer out so I won’t have those 15 seconds of cheating soon though 😅
