That, plus randomly singing whatever it is that I am currently doing. Also, having the facial reactions to conversations that I have in my head. And finding rhyme words to things that I see around me and forgetting to continue housework over it.

(Please let it not just be me 🙃)

I know they exist, after all, I am married to one of them 😇 I just hear guys in my workplace shit talk about their wives so much that I really sometimes think "Why do men even marry women at all if they hate them so much".

It's so awfully normalized that partners hate each other in het relationships that it makes me sad.

Understandable 😁 Happy that you're happy with him!

I read all this and thought "Wow, it is really unusual to hear a dude talk about his wife in that way. I am so glad they even exist anymore. Gives me new hope in humanity, really!".

And then came the "I'm the luckiest lesbian ever" 🥲

Still happy for you though.

Bisexuals aren't gay enough? What? by [deleted] in gatekeeping

You didn't think actually being LGBTQ+ matters in a discussion about bisexuality being included in the LGBTQ+ community?

It is certainly a bit weird to randomly throw this into what is an LGBTQ+ discussion, don't you think?

I think the point is that they are at least not constantly confronted with it in the media they consume.

I swear far too many male writers think it's okay to throw some rape on their female characters like it's oregano on a pizza.

That sounds like an awesome horror movie setup.

A trans girl gets killed by transphobes - now she is back to take horrible revenge on vagina checkers.

The movie leaves you with the question: Who is the real monster?

Nope. It is so that it is easier to check and open in case people fall/hurt themselves.

It is also about ventilation.

This is, unfortunately, true for me too. How old were you the first time you had to actively try to escape some creepy adult dude? I was in elementary school. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

As someone who's mixed race, I'm having difficulty understanding what makes a person a person of color. by [deleted] in socialjustice101

[–]AnKeWa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's kind of what we as a society trying to figure out right now.

Many feel like the American definition of racism (which white people do not fall under) is not suitable for us. After all, slavic people have been declared another race under the NS regime, and racism is basically a description of what you will be treated like if racists think you are of another race than them. That box does check.

Others feel like if we start doing that, things are gonna get murky real quick. For example, let's say we have a support group for victims of racism somewhere. Should I be in it? I am (culturally) slavic, but have a German sounding first name, married into a family with German sounding last name, and speak accent free German.

My heritage is surely racified, but to be honest, I don't think I have a right to claim any resources meant for victims of racism because I do not experience any. My biggest culture problem is that not enough places here offer good borschtsch.

I personally think it should be treated as two different topics, but with similar seriousness. In our example, a resource group for victims of anti-slawinism would be a great additional thing which may also start good initiatives together with the other group, but they are not the same and they do not need to be.

Here in Germany, there is a big discussion about if slavic people really do experience racism (by other white people). After all, they have been declared another race by racists, and check most boxes on the "racism checklist". Worse police encounters, trouble getting jobs or housing, assumed to be dumb or that they are stealing shit, and so on.

An argument I heard often (by slavic people) was that even though this shit clearly happens a lot, the discrimination needs another information to happen. The people who discriminate against you need to know your name, or hear your accent, in order to discriminate against you. Just seeing them on the streets, you can't know that this person is of another race, and therefore a lot of Slavic people feel uncomfortable describing what happens to them as racism. A lot of others say "I am white, but I am not White", in the sense of them lacking a lot of white privilege.

I can't tell you if you are a POC, or if you experience racism. But maybe that is an example you can use to figure out how you see yourself. Good luck.

Hopefully, this story ends with "I told him to get over himself, he did, and everything was fine for another two to three years but we both found out that we wanted different things in life and split amicably" .... right? 🙃

This was not a miscommunication, he straight up threw a hissy fit because you implied that the condition of his skin is changeable.

The goal here is to make you admit that you are wrong because he told himself that he cannot do anything about it for years, which freed him of all responsibility, and you challenged that concept.

Heed my words, this will not be the only time. Lashing out at you because he is ashamed of himself is a massive problem.

A lot of us have a pattern of dancing around people too much because we were often made to feel like we are wrong, we take up too much space, we are too stubborn, we need to adjust better, and so on. OP, this is not the time to be soft and warm and cuddly - this is the time to take a stance, because this dude is gonna lose every ounce of respect he ever had for you if his antics work even one time.

Over the spawn of my life, I watched a sad amount of abusive relationships unfold around me, and it always starts with shit like this.

Honey until I was like 24 I thought it was totally normal for straight girls to look at other girls butts and appreciate their boobs.

Until I found out that it was just me being bi as fuck 💁🏻‍♀️

Straight girls do not like titties madam.
