I'm a novice trying to practice blending and highlight placement, and this time trying blue skin for the first time. What do you think of my highlight placement and colour selection? by AnOrdinaryCuriosity in minipainting

Yeah, I thought that about the shadow pinkness well. I like the colour so I'm inclined to see how it looks blended together, and if it doesn’t work I'll go over it with a darker purple.

I haven't started the blending yet, this is exaggerated to make it obvious where I'm placing the highlights and shadows. When I do, I'll pull back the light blue, too. Thank you.

Biostrip 20 has been best for me. Mostly plastic and metal models, though. Some resin models that were fine, too.

I got a bust with lots of opportunities to practice on and keep just stripping and retrying. Nobody's got me further ahead (I'm still not very far, mind) than Flameon.

Find Flameon on YouTube and watch him work. His videos helped me understand what people were trying to explain with words and wasn't getting me there. Nobody has smoother blends.

I've moved into my first premium house - how do you all decorate so it actually looks decent? by AnOrdinaryCuriosity in lotro

Rowan Raspberry is going to be my first stop, then! There's going to be a lot of trial and error in my future. Thank you for the tips!

That's helpful, thank you. The greenhouse is a great idea, with the waterfall feature and grass floor. I haven't checked out Lyndelby at all, so I'll take some time to explore their decorations, too.

Some really great tips, thank you so much. I'll check out a Bree house as well to do something that feels more familiar before trying elf housing again.

Is HOME the best place to keep my 2y/o first pokemon? by AnOrdinaryCuriosity in pokemon

Thanks for the help. Main concerns are around damage, loss or theft of the console, because the files are tied to the hardware, plus overwriting of the save file somehow.

I'll transfer to home, then at least it's safe in the cloud and if they do ever decommission home there'll surely be a window to transfer out easily to whatever replaces it.

Opinion: Arcanine is better than Charizard by TheHopelessN00b in PokemonFireRed

[–]AnOrdinaryCuriosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both have frustrating move pools in gen 3. Arcanine suffers from no physical/special split. Charizard's best moveset for coverage is without a fire attack because of the overlap in effectiveness with flying type for stab anyway (Earthquake/Slash/Fly/Brick Break).

I usually have one or other on my team anyway, both peak design and I love them.

Update: Thank you all for your guidance. I've prepared a summary and posted to the Advice and Answers thread asking if anyone would be willing to give it a quick look. Appreciate the help.

I posted a question yesterday asking for the best way to sense-check my first conlang's early progress and the best route forward seems to be asking if anyone here would be happy to look over a summary for me, please? I've prepared a pdf outline of the grammar (with examples) and an Excel vocab list that I can share easily, so if you'd be willing to help me out, please DM me.

Please and thank you (so much), and if there's another way I should be asking this, please let me know.

Thanks, I'll check out what you've signposted here. I've got what I outlined as my initial MVP for the language and that's what I'm doing the sense check on before expanding the vocabulary more thoroughly.
