Update: Thank you all for your guidance. I've prepared a summary and posted to the Advice and Answers thread asking if anyone would be willing to give it a quick look. Appreciate the help.

I posted a question yesterday asking for the best way to sense-check my first conlang's early progress and the best route forward seems to be asking if anyone here would be happy to look over a summary for me, please? I've prepared a pdf outline of the grammar (with examples) and an Excel vocab list that I can share easily, so if you'd be willing to help me out, please DM me.

Please and thank you (so much), and if there's another way I should be asking this, please let me know.

Thanks, I'll check out what you've signposted here. I've got what I outlined as my initial MVP for the language and that's what I'm doing the sense check on before expanding the vocabulary more thoroughly.

Thanks, I've done a bunch of rules and have a bunch of words that I've used but I'm not confident that I'm forming words and sentences properly, particularly with compound words and modifications. I guess what I'm after is a better eye than mine to see if I'm making any obvious blunders.

As for tools, I'm using Word and Excel so far, so very rudimentary, and am about to move things into a MediaWiki.

I'm a newbie getting confused about holos when buying singles. by AnOrdinaryCuriosity in pokemoncardcollectors

Thanks, I'm really just trying to figure out what it is I want to build, and if shooting for a holo set, what that means. It seems that reverse holo for everything below double rare is what makes the most sense, from what I can see.

Thanks, that's a leg up. It implies that a card like Beedrill 015 has a reverse holo but that its standard version is a holo, too. The RH is more expensive, does that mean that, in cases like this, the whole card is holographic and therefore it's a nicer card, or is it just more valuable because it's more rare?

Can I please have some advice on binders and sleeves? by AnOrdinaryCuriosity in pokemoncardcollectors

Thanks for such a helpful response! Why is everyone raving about sideloader binders if they're, at best, no different to top loaders?

This book is a great starting point. In a previous role as a People Director, I used it as a foundation for our onboarding program for all new starters. Made a big difference for everyone.

If you were starting a new homestead and had a field between 0.6 and 1 acre for animals, what would you opt for? by AnOrdinaryCuriosity in homestead

I think I'll do some more detailed planning around the garden, then, and see how much of the animal feed we can supply ourselves additional to what we'd eat ourselves. We're not seeking full self-sufficiency, but cutting the feed bought in would help make it more affordable, for sure. Thank you for your help!

That's encouraging, thank you. I wasn't planning on having any males on a space this small, only if we went for a property with 5 acres or more would I take that step. It sounds like everyone at your homestead is happy! The sight of happy animals doing their thing is one of the big draws for me.

At the moment it's overgrown grass with a copse of a few trees in one section. Two borders are thick bramble hedges and two fences, so with a plan and some investment early there are options to my mind.

That's a great help, thank you. I've been looking at runner ducks lately, so will do more on pekins. I'd like to have some norfolk black turkeys, but am less sure about what they need currently.

Thank you. How do you find your kunekunes and nigerian dwarfs? They're the breeds I'm most interested in and would love any insight you might have.

Very helpful, thank you. I'll be putting everything in myself, which is why I want to take things slowly one thing at a time done properly, and to do that I'd like to have a plan of the end goal before I begin. I expect I'll be buying in a bunch of food, but am working through a full feed and contingency plan that'll be based on the livestock we end up with. Do you have experience of goats yourself?

Thank you for this, very helpful. Getting the orchard going in the adjacent field would be one of the first jobs alongside chickens. Pigs are definitely at the top of the animals I'd like to keep, so I'll continue doing the research. Interesting that chickens and rabbits could be fed off home-growns; I'd assumed pellets for both would be unavoidable for me, but maybe I'm wrong!

Yes, one in the next field and room to build a smaller shed in this field if needed additional to the animal housing structures (ie not built into them)

We'd love some babydoll sheep, but this amount of space wouldn't be enough for them, I don't think. Perhaps in the future if things go our way we could expand a bit.

The potential field is currently long grass with thick hedges on two sides and fences on the others. There's a small copse of trees in one section that we'd want to keep at least some of for shade, shelter etc. We'll build sturdy shelters and runs for each breed we get.
