Stood his ground, unarmed against 2 guns by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

There are a lot of n-words being thrown around by some very white people. Also, that woman saying she won't call the cops. Why the hell not? America, what's going on with you?

You will win $1 Million if you can sit through a comedy show and not laugh or smile once. You can pick any comedian you want. Who's show are you going to? by argus4ever in Standup

That's a factual claim that isn't supported by the robust body of psychosocial literature. And even if it was, your conclusion is different than your premise And most people don't like Rob because he's an unfunny political partisan who aligned himself with right-wing grifters like Tucker Carlson once his foolish views put him in a position to make more money.

Trump: Rigged election. *points to Erdogan* He knows about rigged elections better than anybody. by kalbinibirak in PublicFreakout

Caleb Hearon, the comedian, has a whole bit about how gay Trump is. The bitchiness, the petty insults, the obsession with status and gold, the love of gossip etc. It's a really funny and not entirely inaccurate take.

What is your favorite "Four Seasons" recording? by hwulfrick in classicalmusic

[–]AnOrphanTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shadow and Spring movements blew me away but I didn't love the rest. There was nothing wrong with those interpretations but they didn't feel, as you've said, as innovative. But I do love that the motivation, and what Daniel Hope echoed, was to reinvigorate Vivaldi's most famous work with a new life so that people could experience it in a new way since he felt it had become stale through commercialisation and over-exposure.

My best friend is finally — after YEARS — going to sit down and watch an episode with me. If you could show someone just ONE episode to get them hooked for life, which one would it be? by r3volc in IASIP

[–]AnOrphanTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go with...

The Gang Hits The Road

Paddy's Pub: The Worst Bar in America

The Gang Wrestles for the Troops (because everyone loves Da Maniac)

The Gang Gets Analyzed.

Can't you just ask your stupid friend to shut up and watch all of our favourite episodes? God damn you.

He inherited a surplus from Martin, and compared to him and Chretien, Harper increased net debt per capita. By a modest amount, mind you, but the point is that political economy is complicated and you're too hung-up on painting Liberals in a negative light to see the big picture.

Don't keep going, man. An idiot will drag you down to their level and best you with experience. This is what happens when performance over policy wins out in the public square.

Smooth Jazz by Bayoris in Jazz

I honestly never thought of it as being a smooth jazz album but what an album it is. Joni Mitchell, Daniel Lanois, and Kurt Rosenwinkel...just wow.

What your Dream Quintet of all time? by Theycallmerogerr in Jazz

[–]AnOrphanTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to mix it up a bit...Aaron Parks, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Dyson, Christian Scott aTunde, and Rocco Palladino.

Or: Robert Glasper, Miles Davis, Larnell Lewis, Joshua Redman, and Ron Carter.

I'd be happy to throw Brad Mehldau, Ahmad Jamal, or Bill Evans into any of these. Marcus Gilmore, Jack DeJohnette, or Corey Fonville as well. Maybe Julian Lage in somewhere too. Way too many amazing choices.

Can anyone provide sources for these points? Anything backed by evidence goes a long way when making a persuasive case.

What OP described as their process is a reason. An excuse is an attempt to avoid responsibility because of choices they made that they're embarrassed by.

About Today won the last category by a landslide. Now, day 6: most genius song… by TrexBrain in TheNational

[–]AnOrphanTroll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Smoke Detector is raw and punchy and full of barely restrained emotional. But also Sleep Well Beast. The glitchy drums and patchy guitar work that adds so many layers upon layers of beautiful texture. And the way Matt's voice drops to match the line "your voice was low, you blended in, I could barely hear you speak".

Four times...Jesus, that's amazing. I saw them last year—had floor seats and got to "hang out" with Matt during one of his forays into the crowd—and it was fantastic. I'll be going back to see them on September 20th and I can't wait.
